Hosayan is where rose is distilled two times a year. The best crop being April/May. Aromatically, it is mildly sweet, citrusy metallic and green vegetal in character. You get slight notes of mandarin and bergamot in it as well. Its gorgeous beyond words. It is a distillation unit of Pranjal Bhai from respected M L Ramnarain Perfumers. One of the leading family owned distillers from Kannauj since late 1800s. They were the first company to give this world Cypriol.

In pics you can see the traditional deg bhapka system. The clay dough is used to seal the top.

For centuries, my hometown (Grasse, France) has been the prime producer of Rosa centifolia, the variety much sought after in Western perfumery. There used to be roughly 115 families cultivating the rose. Nowadays, we are down to 7. To make things worse, Dior and Chanel have exclusivity contracts with the remaining families in Grasse. Most notably, Rosa centifolia is a key ingredient in the acclaimed Chanel No. 5.

Centifolia is very closely related to Damascena - you can tell by this picture that they resemble each other.
Thanks for the post @Nikhil S
