Kyara Ltd 2.0
In serious pain and agony tonight after an earlier long session of prolo therapy in my back. Some few dozen plus injections. Sore as hell and in pain. Irritable and edgy. Needed an oil to calm me down and help ground me to a sound night sleep.
This oil is not a scent but a portal. A portal to a different dimension. Dimension of?... Stay tuned in for updates tmr.

update next day: slept like a baby. woke up with the scent of the oil on my upper lips and wrist smelling like it was applied an hour before, where as it was more like 10 hours since worn! not many oils do that. what a remarkable scent. i cant really explain it or compare it to this and that, other than scent of high kyara content and minimal other ingredient incense, in particular i get kyara kokoh and KZ green oil kyara incense note. the scent is NOT that of kinam/kyara on low heat, but instead high heat smoke. yet there is nothing smoky about the oil if it makes any sense. this oil to me is more about its transporting qualities and further, not what it smells like but what it doesnt smell like.

there is a rusted iron/alloy workshop scent that is both odd and yet enjoyable. at first, i thought is a pot smell and something young oils show. but this oil is old and i confirmed with ensar what i am smelling is part of the wood and not process or matter of age. i am growing to like this note. anyways, special oil and as far as i see it a must for any and all oud lovers. a teeny tiny toothpick dot size will be enough. so 0.5ml can go a looooong way. fingers crossed ensar team offers this oil soon and does an eid special on it.

Earlier...
Hainan Arabi on the left
Hainan Vintage on the right
Similar genres, similar notes but not identical.....drydown reveals more longevity with Hainan Vintage.

Afternoon...
Nagaland Imperiale on the left
Chamkeila on the right.
I get a noticeable hay in Chamkeila, and the two oils are not similar in regional profiles.

Well........it’s time to go “Frankenstein” with Chamkeila. (No, not frankincense :D)

I added some Kashmiri and Siberian Musk, plus a heavy tincture of goldish-brown ambergris, so concentrated it’s almost an absolute.
I expect an outcome of an oudy Hindi, made rustic, animalic, mysterious, and long lasting.

The wildcard......I don’t know how the alcohol in the tincture will affect the oud.

I have found that it can cause a separation at times depending on how much was used.

Started the evening with an unreleased kampot oil from ensar. Truly trrrific stuff. Me think in the (300-500) price range but a solid one at that. Classic stuff. Yelling cambodi.

Then for the latter part of the evening twr. An amazingly old oil. To me TWR(2001) is older smelling and behaving compared to TW95.

Antique bookstore. Old public dry sauna. Mahagony restorstion workshop. Old worn leather couch. I mean old. Saddle leather like aging...

Terrific oil. A grand oil. Manly man oil.

Purple Kinam (Ensar) - I was heating some actual purple kinam yesterday and recall thinking "wow, this smells like the Purple Kinam oil from Ensar - in his write up on the oil Ensar describes himself heating some purple kinam at an oudfest gathering and people noting that it smelled remarkably like the oil. Well, sure enough! I shouldn't be so surprised except that, many oils have kinam/kyara type names and not all of them remind me of kyara - or, I might detect a note in there that reminds me of a particular kyara note, but my general impression of the oil is not that of kyara. Well, with Purple Kinam the general impression is something very similar to actual purple kinam, which is about as high a compliment I could give to an oil..

Other day sutera sumba and abdus selam laced together. And.... a teeny tiny dot of kinamantan next to it. Wow. Top to bottom bliss.

Last night EO china exclusive
Not loving the opening. In fact I dislike the alcoholic, sharp medicinal, hospital like notes that are super potent and diffusive. But decided to gave it chance.

30 minutes in and nothing has changed. Same super boozy orange peel hospital vibe but at least some new notes are discernible. Bitter root veg like ginseng. Something civet or musky. Wet musk grains. Animalic fresh leather kinda note. High toned leather not soft cigar chair.

Around the hour mark: Perhaps the animal fur note settles down a bit as time goes on. I expected the high toned alcohol like note to tame by now but not really budging.

90 min or so in: Pink peppercorn. Distinctly. But also very small pinch of white pepper mixed in there. Whole thing is now tossed with Bitter orange zest and yes some alcohol still. Good news is lesser booz note now than at the opening start. I fell asleep so no further impressions to share. No residue when I woke up.

Overall a pretty complex oil. Wonderful oil to study. The 2nd hour in and onwards is the best part for me. The first hour is painful. But that’s just me.

Tigerwood 95 earlier today. A marvel of an oil. Some days I see it as a much more precious oil than it is and full of nuanced complexity and other days I see it as, well, tiger balm rub. Today was the latter :(
So camphor heavy that it actually opened up my sinuses.

Night swipe
ASO Hudhayl
It has similarities to Dr. Hindi
I just heated some Hudhayl wood earlier.
It’s very amazing to experience the wood and the oil.....because depending on how the wood was distilled.....the transformation is very evident.

All this recent love and talk for Kyara ltd2.0 is warranted. It is a special oil. In its opening. It’s drydown. It’s scent. It’s energy. It’s length of projection... an insanely awesome oil, Oud lovers need to figure out a way to have a tiny bit in their scent library. Humbly speaking if I was ensar I would limit the purchase of an oil like this to 0.5 a customer. Just so, as many people as possible, get to try it. This is a must.

My message tonight is something different:
Borneo diesel:
You like malinau? Think Borneo 50k, think royal malinau. Think kinamantan but more yellow more floral and sweeter. Now take this note and mix it with an oil like kinamantan but even darker: port moresbey. Touch darker. And then, drum roll... here is the insider tip: a dash of Kyara Ltd 2.0. Yes! There are flashes of the mighty obelisk the tormentor: Kyara Ltd 2.0 in Borneo diesel.

A diffusive oil like malinau oils, bright and open knit in texture, BUT not in scent profile. It is decidedly many shades darker here. We are in very dark yellow mixed with light medium and medium + green then purple deep red and black notes added

Kyara LTD v.2 is certainly a contender for greatest oil of them all.. It is remarkable how potent it is, absolutely bursting with aromatic intensity.. Apparently a small amount of actual kyara was added to the distillation - perhaps it is this that gives it the extra body and richness that sets it apart from most other oils.. A few other Ensar oils - Royal Kinam v.2, Brunei Kinam, Yunnan Kinam - apparently also had kinam in the distillation and have a similar body and richness, an extra level of decadence..

Celebrating trumps reversal decision with Nha Trang ltd
I haven’t seen another oil to compare this to. I doubt I ever will. I also can’t really describe the scent. Words that come to my mind: silver. Laser. Infinity. Outer space. Ancient. Profound. Bitter.
What we have here is just that: old glory days gone by Nha Trang agarwood. Old. Really old. A scent so beautiful so profound it Is mind numbing. Actually literally. Incense galore. Old Nha Trang heartwood shavings on low low heat. No smoke. Barely bubbling agarwood at 90-100 degrees. Gun to head only other wood this oil smells of is shin Kyara offered via yamada Matsu.
Teeny tiny swipe goes a looooooong way. Even with monthly usage I think it will be a few years if not More to go thru 0.5 gram of this oil.
May you all have a fragrant night. The oil is callin. I am going back wrist to nose.

Tonight the soothing gentle hug of Nirvata Muana.

Rooibos vanilla chai latte enjoyed on a stack of dried hay. The milky tea note plus the sweetness of vanilla is unreal and so delicious. I would easily call this a gourmand oil. Not your typical gourmand but one nonetheless.

I love this guilt free mega swipe oil.

Smells Vietnamese, I love the tobacco in it.

IO Laos Classic
A different profile to Dao.
Economy class oil, the way I fly:p:p

Right now,
assessing a couple of Hindi oils for use in a Mukhallat. I can see how one begs for sandalwood, and the other should pair with musk and ambergris.
In the end, I’ve only got one shot to get things right because you can’t undo a mistake.
