“........we are the Sultans, we are the Sultans of Green......”

Sultan Salahuddin opens with a dense green core, like a green rescue flare in the dark sky. Absolutely for lovers of Green Papua,
Archipelago, Archinam, and the frequently mourned Abdus Selam....you get the picture. After the first drop goes “plunk” on the wrist, it blooms to reveal it’s first wave of sweeter top notes, mystery florals. Green Papua in a tuxedo, giving off pheromones of happiness and love.

AA wanmei other day
It has put on weight, gathered more intensity and fully come out of its hibernation. Is a wow oil now. Take kenmei, less green mint, more bittersweet and darker honey notes.

AA philipina 1 last night
Forever a joyous delicious and mind bend oil. Terrific tenacity. Marjoram, lavender leaves, tarragon clover honey. Cooling notes too. Beast oil but oh so smooth and sensual.

AA kencana
Hmmm. Not yet. Or not for me. Too much smoke for my liking for now.

AA royal lao before afternoon nap today
Royal guallam meets shah jahan. They have a baby in China and their neighbour is IO Abdullah cooking FHI. Medium - projection makes it a mustache oil. Mind medicine and a great scent both.

Encens royale 85 few wears in and below is my complete impression:

Was expecting a maroke like oud with more incense and less damp wood, mud, forest floor. I was far off. Virtually zero relation to maroke except maybe the colour and viscosity.

Instead I see it as:
80% Malay (of which tw95 aged longer and lost 30% of its camphoric note + the antique magagony musk note of TWR and a couple pinches of that classic hardcore malay resin in kannan koh or Ahmad)
20% new guniea or more in particular Abdus Selam.

No relation whatsoever to the two Sumatra oils I know FO vsi and AA ambrosia. Also I don’t see any relation to the Aceh variety grown in Sumatra or the wood of VSI from FO.

Great oil for the price. Trrrific after the camphor note quiets down. Very satisfying.

Gp in tux indeed. more serious and less playful. Shade or two darker. Touch of the fruit not there. Touch less spice. Plenty more oomph. Good one.

Early morning game of Blind Swipe over coffee with @Rasoul S. Get a swipe, try and unravel it as best you can: region, age, price, imagined notes etc. Even though swipe number 1 was Royale Bhutan, I declare Nha Trang Ltd as the swipe of the day. A solid opening with a dusty buzz at the top, some dense blood iron, followed by the rise of what is perhaps my favourite dry-down of all time; semi sweet, cream-floral aroma second to none. Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to try some wood with these characteristics.

chugoku naya:
let me say right off the bat that i find chugoku senkoh to be the superior oil for me. CS is so focused, to the point and devoid of noise. CN on the other hand is CS with a whole bunch of pretty floral beautiful notes on top.

opening shows little to no chinese character, minus that note some see as peanuts, some as top soil, potting soil, etc. but ever so slight. there is a sinesis sweetness that is marvelous. no booze. no gisneng. no bitter sinesis notes. it doesnt really go hindi agalocha route either. i mean there is hay, mild mild barn from distant, some wool, sheep and horse notes but so subtle. no fermented fruit, fecal, sharp notes of ferment, cheese or funk. this oil is basically a chugoku. not hindi, not chinese. is its own thing and what a thing of beauty too.

there are more than noticeable jasmine sambac and jasmine leaf notes in chugoku naya. also a fleeting mild lemon grassy kind of note. a hell of a layered and complex oil. to my nose and at the current stage the jasmine and lemongrass notes are a bit disjointed and i love to see more integration. basically, i guess i am saying i want naya to behave like senkoh. not entirely, but almost. not fair on naya as it can and does stand on its own two feets and then some.

either way a beautiful oil no doubt. it yells quality and deft hand at work. lovely stuff.

Nha Trang ltd. Opens ones mind and nose to a new galaxy. Why? All day today I wore many many oils and wow I have to say. Wow for how so many of the oils had their best showing and we connected with each other very deeply.

But this is about the newest addition of the most successful “oud sub genre”: sultan series.

Sultan salahuddin
Or casually reffered to us as GP in a tuxedo oil.

Salahuddin has a fresh berry fruit note and shades darker while Abdus selam (its brother or potentially twin brother) is more of a dried and stone fruit note and more camphoric hence the comment I made about encens royale reminding me somewhat oof Abdus selam.

salahudin also has more of fuzzy buzz kinamantan like top note. Is more medicine. More of a mind high. Easily. It is a sleeper of a sultan. The Oud enthusiast in me thought about staying quiet on this oil and hope it goes on a juicy sale comes Black Friday, but the true Oud lover in me said I must share what I experience with an oud and stay honest and authentic. So here are the details:

I tell u. I saw salahuddin’s soul tonight. On basically my 4th or 5tj wear. I now get this oil. Likely 90% of it. Jump on this gents. This oil is the real good kind. Real deal.

It even has the psychedelic outer space grown fruit note of the legendary beyyazit. that’s a lot of notes of legends in one oil: Abdus selam. Kinamantan. Port M. Asgon. Archi. Gp of course but less tonight for lack of those baking spices and also salahudin is drier. Gp is sweeter and far spicier. Baking spices.

That says a lot as vancouver Oud guild has officially declared green papua (GP) as its official Oud of British Columbia.

Long story short: sallahadin is buy a vial for now, abother for aging and another for the very long haul. Think of your 70 year old age. The time to slow down. Smell the roses. And aged salahuddin. Of course I don’t and no one really fully knows how these oils will age, but I get this feeling in my gut and in my head. It just feels right. Like I said and still say about orsl and many others.

That’s just me though having a great day after I started it with Nha Trang ltd. Take it or leave it.

Got me itching for it now. Vial sniff was pretty nice, but there were so many other oils, woods, etc. last hang out that it kind of got put on back burner. May have to go blind on this one...

@Rasoul S @Simla House Sounds like Salahuddin is a blind buy kind of oil...
Thank you for the review
if the above resonates with you absolutely. only caution for you is i know you love the aged oils and well, this isnt one. it has plenty of those wonderful qualities younger oils have: more jumpy/bouncy playful vaporous top notes. perhaps at least a sample vial order or go bigger with intention of aging.
