I have fallen hard for that buttery skin note kinamic Vietnam bitter ethereally open knit iris scented Oud Royale maluku. Can’t afford it now so what to do when that is all I have on mind and no other oud is doing it?

Make my own half ass make shift replacement. Making attars/all natural edp or even layering oils is very very very difficult. I have wasted so much time and money and precious oil and results are so so at best or shit. One good example to date but nothing truly satisfying. Until today...

@Rasoul S Bro, i too got very excited about the Maluku oil after experiencing Ceram 1997...never got to try the oil though...however after i saw the old thread, and you mentioned the price...the excitement subsided pretty damn fast ...will have to make do with the woods...glad i got enough to last a while...

This evening, Papuamantan gets one-upped by Salahuddin (as if the former weren't good enough already). The unmistakable petrichor, camphor, medicine laced with dark, green jungles is just sublime. xll today. i couldnt stand the opening before and now after many months and small amount of oil seeing tons of air in vial, i can tolerate the opening but not loving it. it is the crude oil/diesel note that has been spilled on ground and its hightoned notes evaporated note i dont dig. after 20 minutes though... my o my. darkest of the creme de violette notes meet other dark floral scents and exotic Chinese herbal medicinal notes. terrific evolution and the notes as one approaches dry down are simply fantastic. even traces of orris butter in there giving the scent a mildly creamy note. damn fine stuff.

you mean in the "new oud release" of the year? i have a hard time remembering which oils got releases this year and which not and if we keep the list to oils below $1000, I would have to agree with you. otherwise, SULEY is the ONE. hands down. no doubt. shah jahan and hindustan 1 are right there too.

official oud of the forthcoming 007 movie. imagine that. seriously apt and would be super cool. imagine if one of the artisinal oud vendors gets a product placement on a blockbuster like 007. the gates that would open up....

So I settle of Royal imphal from EO. un released as of yet. I think is ready though and iirc is a 2012 oil. Gorgeous manipur notes. Good chuck of that heart warming muana note in there. Ultra mild and well integrated barn. Creamy and satisfying but elegant and never ever remotely overbearing. Walks a fine tightrope. Love this oil.
