Last night wore Sultan Salahuddin over Oud Ahmad 1:1. Unbelievable stuff!!
Now I know what my daily wear will be when I win the lottery.
Recently it was observed by one of our friends in Australia that American Oud (oil) reminds him of Sultan Salahuddin, and Tigerwood Royale, so if you haven't experienced it yet, it's highly recommended! No lottery winnings needed ;)

Oud sultani. Yup. One of the two greatest Malay oil I have had to date. On the same tier and at the very top of Malay oils as kynam emerald. It is also more typical Malay and maybe for that I give it even the top spot, kynam emerald is a green, oceanic and somewhat PNG DNA oil.

for fun...
Next level malay is kannan koh and purple kinam.

The tier after is oud Ahmad(it belonged to higher before I met kannan koh and now sultani). Some days TWR.
Some days (lesser) malek malayzi
btw Agar aura malaya and probably when it arrives the mahkota or royal malaya are here too.

futile exercise as Oils change and we change. I change. Mood. Time of year. Weather systems. Humidity. Pressure. Temperature...but this is where I am at now.

Weather in Florida has finally begun to to feel a little more like fall. This morning temps about 68 (19 C) windows open letting in a nice breeze, grey skies clearing to let the sun in... tasting a little bit of heaven as EO Oud Ertugrul mingles with the little nuggets of EO's Papuya '02 on the Subitism heater (thanks abdenbi). Love Saturday mornings like this. Mmmmmmmm....

Oooof. M7 is beast. A sultan tier oil easily. That karbi anglong regional signature is so wicked. Absolutely love studying this oil. Always humbling. I still can’t get to wear it beyond study purposes. I mean I don’t enjoy wearing it hedonistically.

what are some of the other oils you are wearing lately?

nice haul! i am big fan of all the above, esp CS. shibli and its like are exactly as you say. at times there is that twang note of ferment, some days more feta cheese, other days more parmesan, and other times virtually none detected. is only with that blue cheese note that if an oil has it, it always has it, e.g. nhek 76. most of the time to my nose, shibli is very very low cheese/funk and even milder barn. for ZERO funk/barn yet full on muana note i have two oils for you: nirvata muana (sold out. have to try resellers market) and other one an unreleased oil from ensar: muana royale. zero soak. more senkoh in profile (narrower and more focused).

Santal d’Assam: is this the closest santal to Santal Sultan Privée, or what? Actually I get an incredible Ambergris profile in the drydown, sure it’s not an infusion?
i get musk in some santals, sultan privee being a classic example, but havent sensed an ambergris profile in any sandal to date. its exciting to read this.

the day started with agar aura royal sumatra: piercing, sharp, intense and focused notes of cola nut (just like malay) but brighter and even more of it. instead of coke is more like 7up and sprite. there is a very zesty profile in this sumatra as well as agar aura's previously sumatra aceh oil called ambrosia, ditto feel oud's virgin sumatra island. those who remember au luong from agar aura, will also recall that citrus zesty note. mind bend and mind tingle effects of this oil are off the charts. i am left wanting some oudy oud marrow, that fat, that deeper base that really only the top tier agar aura oils sometimes have... not in this one or not yet at least. of taha's latest oils, only malaya has this quality in the base and has it in spades.

later, i wore aceh candan from ensar oud. might as well be from totally different planets. distinctly green, vegetal and purple floral. there is a bitter component that marries the sweet floral note. there is a narcotic almost lotus flower (blue lotus). there is a decaying vgetal note int he opening that thankfully evolves or blows off, like the scent of flower stems left in water at an indoor small cramped flower shop. this note was stronger on release and it has subsequently been improved since. i wonder if it will entirely go away. hint of an algae like note in the mix too.

later tonight there will be another oil, will see what i crave after dinner.
