Hey Artisans, most of us can probably name your most popular and famous oils, but are these your favorites? Are these the ones you are the most proud of? Here is your chance to tell us the ones YOU like the best. Please include your own oils, but also feel free to include those of anyone else, if you are so inclined.

hahaha Bhanny a very good question and really would like to know the answer:)
Ensar a puritan a lover of the old oud traditions especially the good hindis but I would say his magic trio will be : Oud Royale I - Kyara Koutan - Oud Nuh
Taha a cambodi fan since his childhood so his Royal Kampuchea and king koh kong have to be in a good position...
Guys I am right ???

Asalamualeykum wa rahmatullahe wa barakytuh. I Ali from Feel-oud. I love all my oil, but number one for me my first one, is Ketsany. If one more is Wahid.

For me, there's no question, 'The' oud would be Ensar's Sultan Ahmet.
There's just something about Merauke ouds. For me, its the oud that is the answer to the question, "If I was stranded on an island, what's the one oud you'd want to have with you?"
Before smelling this oud, I would have said Betonamu Jinkoh, without hesitation. But the way Ensar managed to combine top and base (and everything in between) in Sultan Ahmet, it plays every single octave of the notes series.

Having said that, I haven't even asked Ensar yet if this is a Merauke oud, or a co-distill (or not even Merauke at all?!). What I do know however is that it appeases every variant of the oud crave!

Wa alaykum assalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, moi brat! : ) So nice to hear from you. Those two are absolutely beautiful oils. Ketsany is actually among my list of the top 10 ouds I've ever smelled.

With such a varied spectrum of scents, I'm inclined to give a shortlist for each origin, in order of preference. I'm also inclined to avoid the obvious choices most people would expect to see on such a list....

In my ranking of other artisans' works, please keep in mind I only have access to the samples they share with me, or what customers feel like sending me to get my 2 cents worth. Adam sent me a bunch of samples when he first started distilling, but they weren't labelled, so I wouldn't know which one is which. They were all Thai oils from what I recall, and all were very nice!

HINDI:

Oud Sulaiman LTD
Oud Idrees
Oud Mostafa No 1
Oud Shuayb (unreleased)

(All of these are from outside the borders of India; near Burma & Bhutan; however the overall profile is 100% Hindi)

CAMBODI:

Kambodi 1976
Oud Salahuddin (sinking-grade; Malay co-distill; 2001)
Royal Pursat (Taha's best oil, in my very humble and very personal opinion)
Pursat 2005

(I'd list Mission Cambodi Kinam, except to me that's a Borneo extracted from Cambodian wood!)

VIETNAM:

Kynam No 1
Guallam Solide
Kinam Rouge

MALAYSIA:

Oud Ahmad (sinking-grade Kelantan; 2001)
Purple Kinam
Berkilau (a huge congrats on this one, Taha! I definitely pick up a kinam note in it)

BORNEO:

Sultan Abdül Hamit (PNG co-distill)
Kuno Kayu (gorgeous oil, Taha!)
Borneo Diesel (unreleased)

NEW GUINEA:

Sultan Ahmet (Brunei co-distill)
Sultan Beyazit
Sultan Mustafa (Brunei co-distill)
Sultan Suleyman (Malay co-distill)

(all of these are really tied, I shuffled them around a bunch of times, and this is what I ended up with)

CHINA:

Kyara LTD (unreleased version)
Royal Kinam
Hainan 2005

MAROKE:

Maroke Kinam (unreleased)
Oud Royale No 3

PAPUA:

Port Moresby
Chen Xiang Qi

BURMA:

Kyara Koutan
Royal Chen Xiang (another fantastic oil, Taha!)

I know I left many origins out, not to mention oils! I may change my mind about some oils later, as is to be expected; planning to update and 'correct' my list and add to it later.

So..this is AWESOME!!! Thank you guys. Ensar, thanks for expanding. I actually think that may be more educational for us. Maybe the rest of you gentlemen would consider doing the same? And you are all welcome to change as you see fit, so no worries Ensar.

Some outstanding oils listed there that I am forever grateful to own. In fact, I've had 3 of them on in the last 48 hours ;)
