    What's on your burner today?

I prefer charcoal (bamboo), but there are some resins that when exposed to high temperature smell awful like Ethiopian frankincense. The Ethiopian resin when exposed to the high temperature of charcoal carry a scent akin to burning plastic, but when I use my electric burner the resin is a bit...

Face to Face with ‘Arabian’ Oud: Part 2

Very insightful! The chips looked painted and polished to me. Love the expressions when they got a whiff of Assam Organic, priceless. Free education. Now, only if I could get my hands on everything in those shops lol.

The Sandalwood Kashturi Oud blend is now one of my favorites. Blue lotus Oud is a very nice blend as well. And the Kodmon's Gold is one of my favorites because it reminds me of ASAQ smoked Cambodi oil.

    What's on your burner today?

I think the only difference between the two is that the Mughsayl pop more with notes of camphor, pine and tangerines! Sometimes I get a lemony note from certain pieces, but you will enjoy the pine, camphor and tangerines majority of the time.

Their blends are very nice. I really enjoy the Dragon's Claw it is a very clean smelling oil that is pleasing to the nose. The Sandalwood Kashturi Oud blend opens up with a smokiness that isn't bad at all and about 20 minutes later the creamy and woody sandalwood notes take you home into the...

    What's on your burner today?

You are correct my brother, black is a type. One of my favorites thus far. A while back I bought the sampler from scents of earth and was happy with the Somali mayidi and the Indian resins. That would be a good a hood way to introduce yourself to different resins.

i second that, humble beginnings, and not condescending! i learned to appreciate all qualities of oud and i still prefer ASAQ Cambodis, but the most important thing for me was the discovery of ouds of different origins other than cambodia/thailand.

I would say if there were any doubt to arise from my oudselect experience, it would not be a doubt about the honesty of Brother Yasin. He is a good and honest person, I have close friends who know him well and says he is honest and a good person, rather my doubt would come from the middle men...

I still love ASAQ and Ajmal ouds, I was just shocked and in for a big surprise when I smelled pure Oud the Cambodis are sweeter and smoother, which for me was a bit disappointing. I was used to the silage and power of ASAQ...

I didn't deal with any hindi's. The only thing that sells in predominantly African American Muslim communities is 'Oud cambodi' from one of the big houses, because that is what most of us were introduced to from attending islamic conferences in new jersey and Philly. If you have Oud cambodi from...

Oudiferous, pm me your information and your are appreciated as well as everyone else here. I agree that lower end Ouds is a cause for concern, but what would happen if greater care was taken in the distillation process as to not burn or over cook. If trees were allowed to age properly, and it...

Masstika, it is my many years (2003-2010) of buying and selling synthetic oud from ASAQ, Ajmal and others that leads me to my surety. i have dealt with local oil vendors in nyc-nj who've used diluting agents and can tell an uncut oil, especially the proverbial 'oud cambodi' that everyone seems...
