I think it was, P2 from same batch as P1 but lesser quality, in addition to the tweaked smokiness.

    Oud Biz: Real Talk

Bat shits doing sidekicks etc aside (lol) , Just curious @Nikhil S , would you say the ASO wood here is farmed as well? Perhaps you can comment on the other woods in the post too? Sorry to bother your sale thread @Oud Learner .if it is not to your liking, please let me know and I'll get rid of it.

Reminds me of the time when Russian adam's wild wood was commented as farmed.

    The Maggot Thread

You mean the time you got some unknown weird sickness from the jungle and the home was filled with LCX vapours from the ultrasonic diffuser? Exhaustion was only the appetizer. And we're talking about the fitness geek Mr Taha who goes to the Gym everyday and can carry a loaded pot with water and...

Agar Aura Unnamed Maluku(sold out) Superb indonesian, tranquilizing (literally) beauty. This is one of the few ouds that clearly zaps my brain. Though I don't remember the scent notes of Al-Syed Ceylon 1, the maluku early notes strongly reminded me of the ceylon. Again, that was another oud...

    What's on your burner today?

Sweet spiced custardy vanilla is quite accurate. Now that's the post distilled wood for Pilipinas no. 1...Imagine the pre distilled wood... (that's all gone now) Or better yet.. Imagine Pilipinas no. 1 itself..! Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. ;) BTW I labelled it as pinoy incense, but in...

what regional/varietal or style of oil you are hoping for in 2018?

Many rock hard pieces, the maluku wood. Some sounded exactly like rocks when tossed to the floor. I was hoping that Taha would set more aside, but only those in the picture plus fragments Taha broke off from other pieces were saved. If not for the solid wood pieces, one extension chord...

Let's talk Oud: a detailed discourse on the various aspects of this substance we love

SubHaanAllaah. Even this? Ajeeb. They truly don't know... they really don't. When one doesnt sincerely seek the truth and peace, this is usually the result. Talebearing and gossip. tsk tsk tsk. May Allah ease your matters Taha

What does a distiller look for when smelling an oil?

One guy in the picture is crazy for oud. He also evaluates quality based on aroma, and not visuals alone (more of a wood guy compared to oil). He smelled Wanmei and went along the lines of "This is the smell of black kyara...." ...Those that know him, know his experience and appreciation of...

What does a distiller look for when smelling an oil?

I believe that the more complex a distillation is (not just the setup), the more complex an oil's behaviour will be. Taha's oils and his methods ,in this regard, seem to correlate. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about... :P Wanmei and Hansei, seriously, (vietnamese) oud lovers...

I haven't smelled that oil. However, one of the possibilities could be that the nose got overwhelmed with all the stuff that's going on, and became fatigued, hence unable to detect the scent much. It happens sometimes with me. I'd be scratching my head why can't I smell it, but people around me...

Harita. Super vibrant and lively sri lankan oil. Green apples aplenty in the beginning! Spot on vocabulary! Refreshing and soothing in a woody sense. Classic Walla Patta pleasant dry down, which lasted 9hours++ total on my skin (with a few rinses and one shower). It has matured well since the...

Green Cambodi at Taha's place. Super fresh oil. Super refreshing scent. Not sure if @Taha finalized the name yet. Plus a dab of two marokes Succor and Ascent (and a Brunei too). I'm starting to understand the maroke craze a little bit :) Some filaria wood for good measure as well. A complete...

    Happening Right Now

Tahniah @Ensar . Sangat bagus! Well here's a wild Trat agarwood which we will see its oil in the distant future. Even the roots are dug up. Who else has wild Trat oud oil in their collection these days ? Gotta be good :)

@Ensar awesome pics! I'm guessing one of the factors in determining whether a tree is fit to cut or not, are the leaves? The tree looks like the leaves have fallen quite a lot. What else do you look for, visually?

How do you guys burn frankincense?

A layer of aluminium foil on charcoal would help. You can adjust the thickness accordingly. It'll slow it down. Not worth using a mica sheet IMO..but it works too
