Wearing EO Maroke Ceylon I must admit that I jilted this one at the beginning. I just did not feel this whole co-distillation thing. Probably, because of my inability to discern regional profiles when I began exploring ouds. I guess it was deep-seated in my brain that co-distillations are...

SOTE Sumatora Senkoh Beautiful oil. I picture wet stones, wild flowers against a aquatic backdrop. I sense a touch of citrus, which is very pleasing to me. Quite addictive. I would say the oil is thin smelling but quite potent. Maybe, delicate would be the correct word rather than thin. It...

SOTD is EO2 I find myself going back to this arcane creation again and again. And, more so, recently. What a classic! I feel vindicated, that I got this in my collection when I was able to. It was my first from Ensar. The leather sleeve itself is so pleasant to smell. I still remember the...

SOTD/SOTE Tibetan Musk My thoughts on Tibetan Musk for first two wearings. I am quite sure there is a lot to explore in this beautiful composition but could not hold myself back. So, here we are. I picture a monastery nestled in the middle of Kangra valley, mini Lhasa. Hills lined with Deodar...

    Oud profiles by region/scent

Hello Brother. I did hear about Sandalwood from Hawaii but never about agarwood plantations. If that's true, there should be some juicy oud coming out of those trees, given the terroir there is so rich.:D

    Oud profiles by region/scent

Noob Alert: I was sitting in my home office last night, had some Borneo wood on the heater. Casually, checking the maps of all oud producing jungles. Realized how close Australia and New Zealand are to Papua/New Guinea. Given the proximity, does northern provinces of Australia produce any...

ATTAR / PERFUME OF THE DAY/NIGHT THREAD

SOTD is Cohiban Coffee Oud Extreme Amazing, amazing stuff. Chocolate, sweet tobacco , out. More of a gourmand. I love this warm and cozy fragrance. Btw I prefer perfume version of this one. Much more diffusive.

    Dixit and Zak

@hasans1 That one is precious. I almost did not buy it as the word on the street was, it contains synthetics. Well, it just so beautiful that people(proponents of natural only) are ignoring this fact now.

I haven’t had a chance to swipe the Oud Yusuf in pure oil form. So, I can not really draw any parallels between my spray bottle and the oil version. I would be more than happy if somebody could share a bit with me.;) Coming to the fragrance: I am very happy that people could still get their...

Yes sir. In fact, that's the one I am wearing right now. I find these two oils quite different. Kham Lao does not have that sharp green opening notes of LAOS 4K rather it has some sharp toluene like vibes. Dry down is what I adore about Kham Lao. Sweet, woody, milky and a faint incense as...

SOTD is Laos 4K from Agar Aura Lovely oil. This is my first one from Laos. Contrary to the popular belief, this is very clean. Starts off with green hyacinth, then gives off this old dusty library, earthy vibe. Settles down to a sweet, woody vanilla with a hint of spice. Interesting oil.

    Dixit and Zak

Yes, Sikander from Naaz Perfumes was kind enough to send me a bottle each of Rising Mysore 2, Ghaliyah and Kashmir Nuit. They all smell really fantastic, with Kashmir Nuit being my favorite one. They all smell like old school indian attars with subtle modern day touches to them. For example...

OUD YUSUF - PURE PARFUM SPRAY

This 30ml bottles with the pouch is pure love. Can not wait to hold it in my hand. Honestly, I do think the ingredients matter the most but come on. Mr. Habib's a legend. This makes it a collectible.

    Oud profiles by region/scent

This is quite intriguing to me. In my humble experience with oud, I never smelt two same oils even if they are from same region. Although Malay, Tigerwood and Oud Ahmed are way too different than they are similar. Same is true with a lot of Assam belt oils. I think the woods are truer to their...

    Sandalwood and deer musk grains

I think it all depends what you want you achieve. When I started, right off the bat, I wanted my maceration to be musk forward. That was the reason I went for 20% w/w for my first experiment. I deliberately used a sandalwood carrier with a lesser pronounced lactonic note. I did not heat the...

    Sandalwood and deer musk grains

I know these fake pods. I grew up in India and these fakest pods were sold at all the Monsoon fairs labelled as "Kasturi" for $10 or something. These have nothing but dry tea leaves steeped in faeces and urine.

    Dixit and Zak

Hello Y'all Hope everybody is doing well. Is anyone on here familiar with Dixit and Zak's work ? I've had some hindi oud oils and attars from brother Zakir of Agarwood Assam. He's got some magnificent stuff. People have been raving right and left, lately about the spray perfumes from Dixit and...
