    EO Irian Erang

Swiped EO Irian Erang Thai...like Basic Kinam and Oud Extraordinaire. Papua...part pretty, part jungle, with some mint and anise, and at the tail end of the sniff, vanilla, citrus, and pepper. The “oudy force” is strong. You’ve heard of gently heated chips, well, the next stage is when you...

Help with an Ensar decision Please!

Ideally...get both but for now, go with the Pinoy Privée My reasoning is that Kinam and Kyara are readily available, but fine Filipino aloes is not, in fact, I don’t know where to get wood similar to Pinoy Privée if my life depended on it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an incense lover to the bone...

    Rasoul’s Incense

Rasoul sent me some of his stick creations. I’m very appreciative to try them. The Vietnamese stick contains DS, TS, and King grade Vietnamese chips. It also contains a portion of Kinam....green oil, yellow oil, Vietnamese red, and Brunei. Nice thin stick with an excellent rate of burn. It...

    Knowledge for oud novice

I’d like to add some justification as to why I recommend a novice to acquire a lot of oils (samples first for $$ reasons). We often learn via Yin and Yang, the experience of some mediocre oils can make one appreciate the better ones. If I steer someone along the “good oil path” their journey...

    Knowledge for oud novice

My two cents... Sample as much artisanal oud as you can... build your oud olfactory library.

Oud Appreciation = Close to Fitrah?

Personally, I’ve been contemplative, and meditative, for the last 45 years of my life. Aside from “Stop and smell the Roses” I would add “Contemplate and smell the Oud”

    Chugoku Senkoh: The Truth

I get that Chinese barnesqueness when I light my Wu Shuang Ge Hainanese incense stick. It’s not prominent, but it’s there.

    What's on your burner today?

Pinoy Privée It was my hoarder instinct to keep quiet about this wood until I could secure more baggies of it. Aside from a few errant pieces in the bunch, which btw possess the tobacco note, these unassuming babies Rock like kinam. No....not a kinamic note, but rather in it’s aroma delivery...

    Questions for the experienced.

Here’s my two cents... The conditions of aging affect aging, aging does affect oils, wether it is for the better or for the worse is a preferential thing. I think that a new distill should be aged, just enough for settling, beyond that, it should be up to the consumer to enjoy the oil in it’s...

    Chugoku Senkoh: The Truth

@JohnH You are correct, I was offered an unsolicited free sample of Zenensis. I Pm’d Rahel, and explained that I no longer possess my sample of CS. Therefore I would not be a good candidate to participate in the challenge. He understood my concern and agreed. What I do remember is that CS did...

    Oud as “Principle” Scent

Good point! In my case, oud has definitely enhanced my perception and understanding of Incense, especially my collection of Japanese incense, and other artisan crafted agarwood incense. I am pretty sure the same with other scents, but only to the extent where I exercise the ability.

I get that Castoreum note with Czar Ceylon, lovely isn’t it. The note was even more evident when I recently sniffed a chunk of Siberian Castoreum, then swiped Czar Ceylon.

    Kyara

@Fahad Based on what I have seen available, by looking at Japanese Incense Houses online, they do grade Kyara at different levels, at what appears to be the level of resination. Some chunks have portions of less resination which looks like white wood, but I don’t think it can really qualify as...
