    Sufi Oud(Strictly For Royals)

So I have been trying to broaden my oud horizons when I stumbled across Sufi Oud. They have very interesting ads, and the marketing scheme is, im assuming, reverse psychology. Basically they have a slogan that says "strictly for royals" and they claim to make only 30 bottles a year. It is a...

    Kyara

Truly I was also quite surprised when the Kyara was so floral and sweet. I thought it was going to be very bitter. I can also relate to how you said that it is similar to top grade agarwood. The best agarwood has floral scent at room temperture. Like TAKE chips from Shoyeido, TAKE means bamboo...

Its so ironic how these oils can create landscape images in my mind, with the emotional counterpart that I have been to these places in my mind, but in reality I have never been. I say ironic because our sense of smell is the deepest connected perception to our memory, but what memory?

TW Royale brings memories of my grandmothers house. Maybe it is the aged oud scent that reminds me of her home, kind of humid and musty. But as I was going through Hainan 2005 Sultan Abdus Selam, and Xiang Liao Ling, the TW Royale and the Xiang Liao Ling are, at least for right now, the two oils...

    Kyara

If you have ever had Howards Violet flavored Mints, it is very similar to that. There is no grassy green smell, just that floral violet smell. But also the color, but that can just be my mind relating the two.

    Kyara

Okay I Just have to say, aside from the sweet betel nut analogy, the Yama damatsu Kyara at room temperature really does smell like violet.

I recently acquired some Sultan Abdus Selam, from the applicator it is very sweet and red. Yet to apply any will have to post on that later.

    Kyara

Yea, I can see the oil seeping out. I am very weary when it comes to burning or heating woods. Even my sandalwood I do not like to touch unless it is a non mysore sandalwood. Something like Kyara, in my opinion, does not even need to be heated the smell just permeates from the source. I usually...

    Kyara

This is my first time smelling Kyara, aside from baiedo Kyara kokoh stick, and it is so different from that regular oudy smell. Its so floral and up lifting. I can even notice the bitter note the japanese describe, most like an aristocrat indeed, .

    Kyara

Oh wow, that is way out of my league. Did you get the seal on the glass bottle put on by the company that sold you the Kyara? Or was it something you managed to remove from the original packaging.

    How do you store it?

    Kyara

Yea, it looks just like that. But the one I have is kakuwari, the symmetrical square cuts. I read about a small percentage of very picky collectors, mostly Chinese, that can isolate a paulownia smell. Personally, I think it is just preference. I say this because the same argument can be made...

    Kyara

I recently acquired a gram from both Shoyeido and Yama damatsu. Do you remember if the Shoyeido packet had a seal keeping the folds down? The TAKE and MATSU grades have a sticker that holds the back together. Though the sandalwood chip envelope does not. My Kyara packet is simply folded over and...

    Kyara

It is based on stock, that is why you can literally have a higher quality wood for less expense than a lower quality wood. So if the kyara is selling faster in Japan then the price is going to be higher, vice versa if it is not selling as quick. Just basic supply and demand really, I even tried...

    Kyara

For a while I have been thinking to myself and considering what exactly distinguishes Kyara from Shoyeido and Kyara from Yama damatsu. Recently, the price of Kyara from Shoyeido went up from $995 to $1595/g, and the price for SS Kyara from Yama damatsu is around $390/g, both being in kakuwari...

Everyone knows that Frankincense and Myrrh are the epitome of resins, as Aloeswood and Sandalwood are for woods. But what exactly is the rarest or most sought after Floral scent? Is it Jasmine, Lotus, Kewda, Rose, etc? Aside from Oudh and Santal oils, I also feel pure Musk, i.e. black musk, is...
