:) This is the precursor to Kyara de Kalbar. It was distilled in 2007 from similar raw materials, though K de Kalbar was from the ultimate quality incense grade dust. Same jungle.

It's not a mix, and doesn't contain anything but single source, pure oud oil. I think the association with the dry down in Pink Papua might be throwing you off... Pink Papua doesn't contain any Papua oud, either. :)

This was a happy hands-off distillation where my Taiwanese distiller just did his thing. All we had to do is ship the raw materials to Taiwan, and he took care of the job.

Borneo 3000 fans will find a new favorite in this oil.

Contents: Pure Kalbar oud oil of the same grade as our Borneo 3000 (hence Kalbar 3000).
Price: $550
Launch date: 2014

Jazak Allahu khairan ya Ensar! what a beautiful oil. oud lovers beware this is one beautiful scent and is sure to please every nose that comes across it. I see where I screwed up now in terms of the pink papua dry down comparison! Thanks for the correction.

People this is no joke or exaggeration, this oil is very very nice!

Ensar once again many thanks for updates on your upcoming oils. A couple of further questions if you may:

1. How similar or different is the Kalbar 3000 to the original or new Borneo 3000?
2. Any info on the Borneo 5000 please?

Thanks

I don't want to seem repetitive but what information out there about Encens Khmer? I had a tiny sample and I put on some this morning. A beautiful and most unusual Oud Oil it is. Beautiful golden sun rays mixed in with sweet delicious Encense smoke. Powdery and soft, well balanced and a nay of anything jarring or off putting. It displays a definite Borneo's profile (think Borneo Kinam) but has a Cambodian tendencies (leaning towards the dark resin y notes). Even though my sample was almost invisible it displayed a powerful surge once it came in contact with the skin like a tidal wave that gives buoyancy and lift. The scent kept getting stronger as it got heated on the skin. This is one of the few oils that could truly be said to be appealing to both sexes. Truly, This is one of all time favorite that I would dare give it a 9 or a 9.5 on my personal likability scale and even though I just tested it twice.

Ahhh...I remember now. Thank you Thomas. One quick question is there any similarity in scent Profile between Kalbar3000 and Encens Khmer knowing that the wood comes from the same forest albeit a lesser grade? The reason I ask is for those of us with lesser financial means to acquire the Khmer, would the Kalbar3000 gives an approximation of the Khmer scent at a lesser cost or is it totally different scent?

Kalbar 3000 and Encens Khmer have little in common. Khmer's dark honey-tobacco-laziness is countered by a much more lively oil in Kalbar 3000. Far more translucent and crisp than the powdery, laid-back Havana mood set by Khmer, Kalbar 3000 is not a lazy-man's oil :)

There's a big generation gap between the two - Kalbar 3000 is a more youthful representation of Khmer - wild at heart, vibrant, yet with a lot to learn from the gentlemen in the Cuban lounge.

Perhaps the gentleman can school us over a game of Dominos on a table made from highly resonated kalbar wood with light florals surrounding the table while the gentleman smokes a vanilla flavored Cuban cigar!

A question for Ensar please:

From the part list of the recently released and upcoming Thai/Cambodi oils, it appears from the descriptions that both the Crassna Cha and Oud Yusuf do not carry the typical Thai/Cambodi scent profile. Is this assumption correct? and are there any others in the list below that are very different to the typical Thai/Cambodi oil?

Thanks

Cambodia / Thailand

Oud Yusuf
Oud Ishaq (Chanthaburi 2008)
Oud Dhul Kifl (Chanthaburi 2008)
Purple Dervish (Koh Kong & Pursat 2011)
Crassna Cha (20 year old tree)
Oud Yaqub (60 year old tree)

@Mr Oud: Crassna Cha is actually another 'green' incense-smoke / Japanese-sencha note sort of oud which due to the stainless steel distillation is quite louder & brisker than both Thai Encens No 1 & No 2.

Oud Yusuf, on the other hand, is the very apex & epitome of the classic Cambodi profile: sweet, resinous, fruity, with an added floral tonality which takes it to a whole other level. The master distiller, when he presented me with his 'treasure' introduced it as the 'supreme Cambodi' oud oil. He has worked well over a decade to perfect his 'style' in his oil, and I can say he has far outstripped all other artisans I've worked with in sheer passion. He won't even cut the trees to make his oil, as you can see from the video listed on the Oud Yusuf page: http://www.oriscent.com/product/oud-yusuf/231

Regarding the other oils on the list, all I can say now is, stay tuned! They probably won't be launching for a bit, as several customers have complained about the long & confusing list we put out previously.

@abdullah: Both these oils are too young to pass judgment on, and will likely need a few years of aging before we can launch them. Indeed, we have oils from as far back as 2004 & 2007 which we are still aging! Please consider ordering more aged & fully mature oils. Apart from the 'Experimental' distillations, I hesitate to sell any oil that was distilled in 2011. I've only sold one singular bottle of Oud Shuayb due to highly unusual circumstances. Oud Ayoob remains intact in its original pyrex, not a drop has been sold yet. Please give us some time to age the oils properly & consider ordering our 2005-2007 distillations currently on offer on the website.

I fully support Ensar's admonition to wait and order more mature oils. As we all know, Oud really only seems to grow into full scent profile once it has aged.

@abdullah: 25 tolas. Oud Ishaq is fully mature and ready to launch, only thing is I've found a great use for it in creating Oud Parfums, as it is just about the finest fixative I've ever worked with. So not sure if I should be selling the pure oil, or reserve it for use in my Parfums.

@Oudiferous: thanks for the great Oud Khidr review on your blog!

Ensar you are quite right, best to wait for those newer oils to fully mature. This way we can all enjoy the oils we already have in our possession instead of worrying about purchasing new unreleased oils. What I suggest would be useful however, is to reduce the upcoming oils list by omitting all the oils that have already been released and ordering the remaining oils in the order you expect them to be released (earliest at the top) without giving actual release dates.

Thanks

Thanks for the input, Mr Oud. After what we learnt from our recent Experiment distillations, I've been reevaluating, filtering & rebottling our entire inventory. Things are constantly changing, including my plans of what to launch when.

Refiltering Oud Yunus right now, and for the first time I get a very distinct scent of tuberose. Oudiferous, have you ever smelled tuberose absolute or actual tuberose flowers?
