Oh no! Oud Haroon is a legend! I was debating between Oud Haroon and TW95, but I think my choice has been made easy for me, haha.
With all due respect to Haroon, no way it stands a chance up against vintage pure tigerwood oil from centennial trees harvested in the mid-1990s. Tigerwood 1995 is the clear no-brainer in this case... :)

Of course! Haha, I was taking into account the fact that since I'm a beginner I might want to veer more towards sweeter ouds, so it was mainly a choice between great rare oud and pretty oud that might suit me better. A Hard decision, but one I'm a little glad was made for me!

Kaliman Kala, Royale No 5 and Kambodi Kadeem are all gone. We received a flurry of emails from people that are interested in these but missed out – even multiple attempted orders coming in literally minutes apart of each other.

Sadly, we couldn't fulfill every one, so we're extending Boxing Day discounts one more day, this time with a KNOCKOUT by including our last bottles of the Oud Mostafa Experiment, Assam Organic 2005 (many of you have been looking for this one!) and a few vials of what I consider the greatest Hindis of all time…

There was a lot of confusion why the v-vials were not on sale for the 3 gr option, so we've extended the special and put ALL v-vials on sale as well!

A big Thank You! to all who ordered, and here's your chance to everyone else.

Not sure who this band of groupies is that you are referring to. We are all lovers of oud on this forum. We have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on your ouds. No groupies here.
I haven't seen anyone trying to suppress information. In fact we are asking for MORE information to back your claims. We need more than a 10 second video of oud chips burning.
The groupies must be somewhere else.

Humor is a two-way street, brother doc. ;)

Don't worry @AZsmell it's a passing moniker. Last time I was called that was on Ouddict when I was defending Ensar. In fact I think all the 'groupies' included in Ensar's post are the same ones who were called groupies or cult-members for 'defending him'. As if the truth had anything to do with him or anyone else.

Well, I dunno - it's long been Ensar's style to "talk a little smack" from time to time in his oud descriptions - impassioned missives taking aim at the state of oud, at various competitors, at misinformation, at the social climate in the online community - I happen to enjoy it, and like that he ruffles people's feathers a bit.. At the end of the day, we all know its gonna be some real deal oud to back up the hype - the foibles of the artist come with the territory...

From Russia with Love....

No 2 is officially live on EnsarOud.com, and fresh Siberian musk has just landed in the wee hours of the morning, courtesy of fully licensed and legal deer hunters in Siberia. Mr Kruger is back from Russia, and his luggage smells awfully fragrant! Pre-order EO No2 Pure Parfum now, for a taste of my official masterpiece.

If I had to choose one single fragrance composition that my name is associated with, it'd have to be EO No 2 in Pure Parfum format.

People often wonder what I myself wear before leaving the house, when going to Jumuah, the hadra and other gatherings of dhikr.... The answer: EO No 2, Hailam LTD, Nha Trang LTD or Kyara LTD.

I've never slaughtered anything in my life. Whenever Eid al Adha comes, I let @Kruger do the honors. Goats, sheep, chickens at the distillery – all his department. And so, naturally, I was feeling rather queasy and faint yesterday, after opening and macerating the various musk pods Kruger brought back from Russia....

It is a process I don’t recommend you try at home. The gore and funk of the whole thing has got me lightheaded still. And if you could smell the office this morning! I want to say it was strong and heavenly, only I'd be telling you a marketing “story.” It smelled persistent and candied like a cured meats-turned-caramel sort of thing, but very pervasive and like a floral slaughterhouse, if you can imagine that. Blood turned toffee and flowers… It is when you macerate it in other aromatics or tincture it in very small fractions in alcohol, that musk's true glory comes to sight.

One of the things this whole experience reaffirmed for me is that pretty much ALL musk you find anywhere is fake. From the stuff the "trusted vendors" have sold, to what you're offered as genuine muskiness straight from Russia. All the baby powder business is synthetic. Nothing wrong with that, so long as you know it ain't animal musk you're cringing from – NOT the blood of the deer!

And so now if you visit my office, you'll feel like you entered an ancient apothecary from the 17th century, with body parts, eyeballs and cut fingers macerating in funky alchemical juices in grotesque jars. Only, my jars are Schott YouTility bottles and instead of dismembered fingers what you'll find is deer musk, hairs and skin added to the broth for good measure.

I've added a very generous amount of fresh tincture to the Pure Parfum format of EO No 2, which cranks up the muskiness quite a bit on it from what I'd originally intended on launching.

I know it may come off as pricey at $790 a bottle compared to other "extraits" that sell for half that price. When you compare what they put inside those bottles to what I put into my bottles, though, I think you'll quickly realize the sort of giveaway EO No 2 is. Compared to selling the pure attar, it is indeed a losing business! Throw in the box, the leather casing, the bottle and atomizer, and we're practically home free by the time we calculate our costs.

Message in a bottle: you need to sell predominantly SYNTHETIC concoctions in order to turn any profit at "extrait" concentrations. And I can clearly understand, now, why Guerlain's parfums from the mid-century used to come in 7 ml bottles. At 50 ml, they'd have to either cost ten times what the 'miniatures' cost, or come in radically watered down 'cologne' and EDT strengths. Which is not something I can do to my juice!

Anyway, it's been a super fragrant business, this EO No 2 production, profitability aside, and I am that much more 'educated' on animalics and musk as a result.

I estimate that the No 2 will quickly become a collector's item that demands many times the asking price. And that's not salesmanship talking, it's the simple reality of what I've put into those bottles.

And so, gentle ladies and gents, I recommend you stock up on No 2 while it's still here. I may release it again sometime down the line, but I can assure you with absolute certainty, it won't be the same formula. Just like with No 1 and Sultan Leather Attar. When dealing with ultra precious aromatics, it is IMPOSSIBLE to replicate the same formula exactly. You can do "equally good". You can even do "better". You just can't do "identical".

Party on, you frag animals! :D
