For the last three nights, I've gotten less than six hours of sleep thanks to posting on this forum. I cut out many of my smartphone apps a long time ago. I no longer do Hangouts, WhatsApp, WeChat, Messenger, except with family and employees. The system gets clogged up pretty easily if you let it, and you need to find a balance between work, hobbies, family life, kids, everything. I thought my participation on here was fruitful and beneficial, until reading the recent posts on "The Maggot Thread". I realized I'm talking to myself. My own words are being used to prove a point against me. People can't handle much reality at all. They have psychological 'comfort' zones, mundane 'fictions' they like to think up and believe in order to bring color to their lives, and I don't blame them.

I stopped reading Ouddict a long time ago, and I'm afraid the time has come to move on from Gaharu as well. This will be my final post for a while. Kruger will most likely fill me in on what's happening, and I may instruct him on what to say. Or I may not.

This was my son's performance song for Chinese New Year's at kindergarten. I'm very fond of it.

@Ensar your contributions here are irreplaceable, fruitful and beneficial. Not just from the perspective of you being the leading authority on artisanal oud, but also one that demonstrates human good nature and the spirit of sharing. I'll be the first to say that a hiatus may be in order as constant, persistent and malicious attack has left you somewhat shell shocked and has seemingly blurred your ability to differentiate between friend and foe, supporting and refuting, and addressing with respect and ranting.

Ensar, you are not talking to yourself. I have looked forward to reading your posts as they give me an insight into a world I know nothing of. I always like learning about other people’s worlds, especially someone who is a pioneer in their field. I really haven’t been able to follow what people are saying, it seems much ado about nothing to an outsider. Just know that your contributions will be missed. I hope your son’s performance went well.

Thank you so much @Kswer. I really appreciate that. I may just take @PEARL's advice and take it easy for a while. I just got back to my hotel room from the distillery, where my teacher told me to try swimming the wood over next time (when he learned all the hoops my wife and I had to go through just to transport 90 kilos).

God bless, everyone and hats off to @kesiro, @kooolaid79 and @JohnH for doing an incredible job moderating this place.

A peaceful morning of dark elegance: Dhul Q and Sisterhood. 'We forgive as we forget. As the day is long. As the water flows over the bridge, as we walk on the floodland, as we walk on the water, we forget.'

The Sisters Of Mercy were always a great band, guaranteed to scare your parents to death when growing up. Here is a good example of the Sisters scaring your parents in the early 80's:

Too bad Andrew Eldridtch and The Mission parted ways. My favorite song from 'the gift' is Finland Red, Egypt White. Eldritch calmly reads off technical specs for various munitions for the entire song. At first it seems trite, then as the song progresses it becomes more unsettling and chilling to hear all the numbers.

right on. studying and grading santal oil is very tough. i find i have a much better grasp at oud than santal.what i do know is that i dont like them overtly citrusy and green and once they go too much in that omani lime (fermented dried key lime) profile, then i lose interest.

I share your sentiment with the sandal oils being citrus heavy and so on. Not my cup of tea : )
good to read...

i find ensar oud kupang 98 to be very heavy on omani lime, that dried fermented keylime note. nothing fresh or green smelling in this one. oils that i find ample volume of fresh green citrusy note in their sandals are: rising phoneix timor oil and ditto imperial oud mysore 02.

santal sultan privee has a touch of that dried keylime but stays just on threshhold while the other qualities in that oil take you over for a joyride. that musky note is wow wow.

Yunnan 91 has been on simmer over the last hour. Therapeutic indeed. The small remains i have will indeed be cherished for as long as i breath. A true reference to what once was. Much love to a original in the game and nothing but respect for Ensar!!!
More precious to me than kyara. Literally. No other wood has this blue kinam note. So blueeee. Lotus blue even. Narcotic and medicinal beyond belief.

Bwhahah my long lost brother. Very interesting observation. Because when i burn the wood mixed with herb in my pipe i get that insane floral note that i was thinking was similar to the smell i get from the purple/blue little flower Hostas. The ones on the long stem that you can pop before they open. For sure i see where your coming from because a lot of the times at certain points of the session i get this pollen floral notes you speak of.
A totally unique wood. I haven’t tried that flower and exact aromas are subjective and very personal yet i found non agar heads also smell this wood and when asked to give it a colour they say blue.

here is to more sinesis offering from ensar this year.
