Ensar Oud: Thai Encens No 2

Ahaaa...I knew it. Thank you Ensar for posting this Video. I thought it would be natural for them to have those clay pots. Very beautiful. So they do imbue an earthly smell to the oil. Very curious to test the smell. I am making a Dua for you, May Allah put "Barakah" in your harvest.

Interesting about the yield! Do you think you will attempt to distill some oil after soaking it in the earthen pots? I could go for an earthy Cambodi.

Second day's impressions:

An oud oil that smells just like the fresh blue lotus flowers! It's as if everything is interconnected in this climate, and the zest of their cuisine is also found in the agarwood oil which is produced here, which in turn is affected by the mineral content of the water the wood is soaked in prior to distillation. Either I'm going crazy, or I smell fresh blue lotus flowers in the oil.....

I went to sleep with a swipe of it on the back of my hand, which at that time smelled like the blue lotus flower (soft, delicate, ethereal, with the faintest hint of buttery-earthiness permeating it); and when I woke up and revisited it, it smelled of the agarwood resin as it burns, devoid of any smoke, wood, the pure eternality of gently heated gaharu; Cambodian/Thai origin; spicy green with a subtle dark fruits undertone.

Is the Yield harvested daily or is it left in the glass globe for the entire run of the distillation? Maybe that amazing green color had something to do with the Blue Lotus smell :)?

We collected the oil after the first and second days separately, but the third turned out less than expected, so we're going to go see what it'll look like today after the fourth day. I'm sure the green color and the blue lotus smell are related.

I'm probably going to stop collecting the first batch either today (4th day) or after the seventh day of distillation. The first and second batches will smell very different, and I'm going to have to spend quite some time deciding whether it's best to mix them or keep them separate. Most likely I'll end up keeping them separate.
