Posted a bit about this in another thread, but figure I should start a new topic..

Any recommendations of Japanese or Tibetan incenses you like?

Btw if you're an incense lover but have never encountered Tibetan incense, do yourself a favor and pick some up - it is as distinct from Japanese incense as Indian incense is - it's a whole dimension of the incense experience that most have never encountered.. These are the "barnyard" aromas of the incense world, the equivalent of the Hindi oud oils - though a very different type of barnyard.. They used to use a lot of real deer musk and pangolin scales in some of these Tibetan incenses - that seems to be less common nowadays..

For Tibetan I highly highly highly recommend checking out the Dzogchen Monastery's "Lotus Ground" incense.. There's a rich earthy spirituality in the finer Tibetan incenses.. "Holy Land" is really good also..

I answered you over at the other thread, but yes to Tibetan incense, if it's good quality.
I bought some great stuff up in Upper West Bengal over 20 years ago. It was recommended that I finely grind some up and make a massage oil out it for my then screaming tendonitis. Worked very nicely :)
As for Japanese incense, I can surely recommend some my favourites.
Which styles/houses do you like?

Howdy!
Well, I have incenses from several Japanese houses - I would say the Baiedo, Seijudo, Kunmeido, and Yamadamatsu are among my favorite..

I have "Holy Land" and a few other Tibetan incenses. I would have "Lotus Ground" but it's often sold out, hopefully when I need more incense it will be in-stock.

I've sampled a half dozen or so Japanese incenses but I think I bought them too late and got reformulated ones because I fail to see the quality many have talked about. I'll buy from other sources next time...

Also, I like many of the incenses offered by Mermade and use their Golden Lotus heater.
