This morning while I was at work, one of my students came and gave me his dads sample bottle of Kyara Koutan which he got back in I would say 2009-2010.

His son told me that because I knew Oud his dad wanted me to have this sample. What a beautiful day to start of with someone giving me one of the old legends sampler which had the oriscent sticker still hanging on it.

What can I say about that oil. Let's just say it took me back about 8 years when I had newly got into the field and smelled something so beautiful and precious. Simply out of this world stuff.

I will just hold onto the bottle cherishing the scent every time I see it.

Today was my first day with this oud.

Currently the dry down is burning chips - I've never smelled Kyara chips so I cannot say Kyara, but some ancient and beautiful wood is burning on my hand at the moment.

But when I first smelled it, bittersweet green radiance which was so deep it could not be fathomed, and then it kept morphing, sometimes to pure oud smoke, then a strong sweet green again. All in a dazzling scintillating harmony.

I'd be very interested to know other people's opinions on this oil, especially in relation to the other Kyara oil permutations.

Now I keep going back to the bottle and inhaling the deep deep mystery. This will take many wears to understand because it is extraordinarily complex.
