Dear All,

below is the latest on the incense release from respected WS, aka kyaraen, aka 2088tea.com

While multi studies of any incense/oil or wood is needed and important, I also think there is just enough value in first impressions. here is what registered to my nose:

Nanban: blend of southern aloes. can’t study it closely. Too much smoke. Harsh notes. Bitter burn. If tested blind and didn’t know is from respected KZ I wouldn’t give it a second try. Will study further and report back. maybe i will change the angle upright to burn slower and cooler.

Single Malay log manaka premium:
First time ever to have considerable 9+ sticks broken up to many pieces of any incense ever purchased from Kz(well over 30+). Sadly too many pieces are 1 cm or so in size that makes using them hard. Gonna try subitism. That aside: gorgeous stuff. Visible bubbling of resin. Thick rich savory sweet smoke. Clearly superior incense. need to study more. just lovely.

Kou jin: is premium saffron Mysore. First off my first time seeing saffron in an incense and upon studying the stick with multiple angles of burn and study from close to a far, I don’t pick up any saffron note the way i know it: actual saffron or when tinctured or powdered and mixed with boiling water to season Persian rice dishes. The stick does have something other than Mysore note going on, but not what I was hoping/expecting: saffron in all its glory. In my head I thought this incense will have that butter saffron mixture scent we brush on kababs or pour over rice as Persians. Needs more study still

Al ghaliyah: Is pretty spectacular. A gyrinops papuan quality. European cade. floral notes and musk. Rich full dark round yet finessed. Impressed big time. What is in it? i need some more.

North burma: most impressive. Wow wow wow. Sick stuff. The Incense kept turning off after lighting showing huge resin rich wood used. Pretty coarse sticks too. Need me more. Must inquire. Need to study further. I pick up Familiar note but can’t put my finger on it yet.

update: i looked up KZ note on this and when i saw the comparison/resemblance he made to cambodi/vietnam, it all made sense. i wonder if it is a crassna variety. eitehrwy this stuff is lovly and whoever scored a full pack would be well advised to send me some ;) i can be double generous in return :)

WSG Baina:
same as previous batches i got. i must say WSG incenses really really really speak to me. baina is terrific value. massive bang for the buck. it is no "as is", nine lifetimes, or the hainan classic, but for the price you cant go wrong.

walla patta:
classic and can be nothing but. textbook walla. varnish, high pitched walla notes from close by study are a bit harsh but from more distance, is absolutely lovely. mango, cinnamon and that rich satisfying resin of walla bubbling on higher heat.

Wow! What a haul! I enjoyed much of your last shipment from KZ. Still missing that Baltic Pine incense that was made by his student. Whoever you are, anonymous student: great job! Again, we'll have to sit with @Micheal Smith and all the new sticks for a Kodo session. A separate day from oil study.

Surprise visit from Oud-On-Wheelsyesterday evening with the new KZ incense stash, some Port Morseby Privee, and a new unreleased chip from EO.
Absolutely beautiful stuff. Great service, high recommended, and generous portions :D

Got to lounge about over the heater while listening to Javanese Gamelan vinyl and talk oud and incense until late.
The PMP was mind-rattling, and the new secret to-be-released chip is essential.
Your descriptions of the incenses listed above are accurate, so not much else to say. I enjoyed them all. Hopefully in the future there will be a lottery for purchasing privileges, or perhaps buyer limits so these can be enjoyed by more people: @kyarazen.

Update:
Nanban growing on me more so. The zesty Indonesian note is awesome.

The Mysore saffron: no go.

North burma: holly grail. Just the damn finest incense profile I have come across in a loooooong time. Who ever scored some better send me a couple of sticks.

Rest are same impressions as before.
