Makko help (for user: Ts 1326)

Hi Ts 1326,

you had a question about makko and frankincense/ creating sticks from these ingedients.
Matter of fact, I have tried to create frankincense / Oud sticks using makko powder. The first attempt went awry, I had used too much of the resin which caused the sticks to go out. In the second attempt I was able to make some sticks but these easily crumbled and broke into tiny pieces. Right now, I am using resins only in certain personal recipes as creating sticks from them is a really, really difficult task.

IMHO, after several attempts, I suggest that you do not use more than a tiny amount of resin. the reason being that makko does not get as hot as oncense coals,so the resin will melt and extinguish the glowing stick. I have successfully created sticks using cinnamon, myrrh and oud, with a ratio of 1,0:0,5:4,5 grams of each ingredient plus adding about 5,0-7,0 grams of makko (i.e.: Cinnamon:Myrrh:Oud, as in the ratio).

Resins are quite powerful scent-wise, so you will only need a small amount to have the scent of a resin the stick scent. Try to use combustible ingredients as much as possible, and only add a small amount of resins. The overall amount of Makko will influence how fast the sticks or cones will burn, so you need to experiment. It all depends on what scent profile you want, and how fast (or slow) you want the sticks to burn.

Hope that helps, Good Luck with your experiments!
(and Good Luck with your profile -- I once again wasn´t able to send this per PM as your profile was again deactivated!)
