Mixing Oud

Hi All,

a few weeks ago I made an experiment. It was my first attempt at mixing two oud oils. I had an empty perfume sample vial, which I rinsed out meticiously with pure alcohol, drying it thoroughly and then let it sit for while to ensure that all traces of the perfume and the alcohol evaporate.

I mixed about four or five drops of AgarAura´s Oud Kampuchea with a lesser amount (about two drops) of Ensar´s Assam Organic.

I then allowed this mix to sit for some time. The result is a really interesting oud: the plum and fig notes of the Kapuchea are greatly supported and enhanced by the Assam Organic while the strong barnyard twang of the Assam is somehow sweetened and less pungent due to the fruity notes. The projection / sillage is good, and I like this mix very much. It makes the best of both the base materials.
It is as if the barnyard is the sweetest that you can ever get. It is in no way offending or too strong, quite the contrary. To me the fruity notes are of such intensity that they seem almost unnatural. And yet, the fruitiness is so interwoven with the barnyard notes that they create something altogether new.

Kind regards,
Thomas S.

I have a friend who put on some oud yusuf on one hand and on the other he put on some pure bulgarian rose (separately not mixed). He said they compliment each other very well. I did not yet smell it but that's what he did.
