A further word of caution on this novel. it is very violent. It is also very relevant, considering the political situation currently in the US. This book may not be a comfortable read for some people.
Well,

If that is the case then you are only doing your job.

To paraphrase from someone also involved in the printing press, comfort the afficted and afflict the comfortable!

Order submitted. Cannot wait for this. Thanks again !!!
I couldn't wait either. Then I realized by the time I finish smelling some of the other beautiful Ensar Oils I have, DHL should be here and waa laa. DHL dropped it off in 2 days. Can you believe that just 2 days! How awesome is that..
I realize there are alot of people who are selling some vintage oils of Ensar but you got to remember one thing and that is it may take about 25 days on some oils to get to you (Just ask me LOL)
The best thing to do in this matter is to consult with Ensar or Mr Thomas if they either have that particular oil you are looking for and would it be a good idea to pursue it from the private seller.
One of the advices our beloved Ensar gave to me was that by buying directly from Ensaroud, they are able to continue their journey into finding the best Oud available for us the consumer.
I have made intention to do that moving forward.. Sorry to blabber but just got excited thinking about the Dhul Q!! :)

I would second that! I would highly recommend reaching out first. That's not saying purchasing or trading for some of his legends elsewhere is never recommended. If fact, I've gotten guidance on relative values of old oils. But if available, I always purchase from the source itself.

Dear @bhanny and @kooolaid79
What do you mean? That it's best to check with EO first if they somehow still have oils that the website lists as "sold out" prior to consulting with private sellers?
No doubt, if an oil is still available directly from EO, I would purchase from there and not through a private collector.

Let's just say I think its very reasonable to email them and ask if they have any remaining stock. I'm personally referring to older ones, at least with my own experience.

Example. This past September there was a very limited time special, an Eid special I believe, where Kyara de Kalbar (amazing), Port Moresby (amazing), Oud Nuh (amazing) and Oud Royale 1985 (amazing and incredible value) were released. Now those were sold out long ago, now appropriately listed on my favorite hall of fame, Ensar Oud Legends (where I've spent countless hours reading and rereading). Now, some are really gone, or at least I assume. I have to believe it as I'm sure Ensar would have broke down and sold them just out of exhaustion with me pestering him so much. :p

Example 2. Early on I was looking to buy some of those very legends and happened upon a seller. Nobody here by the way. I reached out to the good Mr Coburn (who is a jewel by the way) who then connected me with Ensar (the maestro). It turns out I would have overpaid for most of the oils and there would have been no guarantee of their authenticity or that they were not adulterated. I got most of them, and others, from Ensar himself.

Now, I am not suggesting to not purchase from private sellers. I will sell some of mine someday (not Ensar/Taha/Adam though, fat chance of that), and I treat mine like treasures. I also have purchased some from private sellers. I have traded some. But I make sure I know who I'm dealing with. Like @Oudamberlove, don't know him/her personally, but would do buy/trade without concern.

This is just my opinion, so please take it as that. Bottom line, it never hurts to ask Ensar, or any of the other guys if they have any left, even if no longer listed.

@bhanny Great advice, it is truly appreciated. At least form my end, I am trying to limit my emails because I feel like I am constantly pestering the likes of Mr. Coburn, haha. He is indeed, such an asset and a wonderful person.

It's really quite simple. Evidence suggest that some of the artisans keep back a portion of a distillation and may or may not offer it for public release at a later time or may offer it privately. Also, those same artisans will have oils that have limited release, be released later or only released privately.
Examples-the sale @bhanny mentioned where some legends or "publicly sold out" oils were re-released by Ensar. ASO's Ceen, at one time was "publicly sold out" until the lovely Jawad decided to go into the companies catalog/coffers/stash and release another bottle.
If in doubt about a oil, have questions about a "sold out" oil, want to know about unreleased or private oils~build a relationship with the artisans and ask them, that's really all @kooolaid79 is saying, nothing mischievous.

Thank you @PEARL for elaborating that. As pearl mentioned, the relationship between the consumer and the artisans/distiller is key. It will not happen overnight. It might take time but once it happens, both sides meaning the consumer and the artisans will start understanding each other's nature of oils and desires.
I, in no way intended to hurt anyone's feeling of selling something privately. That is your right and you have all the right to sell what ever you want and at what ever price you want.

When I have the money... I will do this very thing. Except I will ask Ensar to match me an oil based on what I have loved, and what he sees within my personality. I have literally loved them all, but I would be delighted to see what he sees when he looks at me!

Ah yes. That is the best part. Ensar has actually advised me against purchasing some of his oils!!! Not that they weren't worthy, in fact the oil of this thread was one, but he knows my preferences, what I have purchased before and what I have enjoyed the most (even some from other artisans). As long as its within my means/budget, I can and do safely buy blindly on his recommendation alone. Taha and Adam will do this as well.

That makes me so happy to hear! One amusing thing that happened with my beloved DQ... when I initially put it on one day, my roommate didn't like it at all. Then, it dried down, and I ran at him, yelling 'Sniff me now!' He said 'Did you change oils?' Oud is magical stuff. And DQ is black as night as it just goes on, but it turns into something like tobacco and mesquite with a hit of warm earth after I've been wearing it for a while. And I just can't wait to give my fiance a swipe! (He already smells wonderful, just naturally.)

That's what's so great about this Artisan oud business. We get to communicate directly with the Artisans themselves. Even though they have been put under the microscope and wrung through the wringer, they remain courteous and helpful.

I agree somewhat, but with the recent monkey-poo ballistics on these forums one could also be very surprised and thankful about their remaining civil to anyone.

I think that after all the marketing nonsense, attacks and rubbish they at least have the consolation of sending a sample of their blood and sweat and then tasting the tears of any oud or oudh (<--- deliberate lower case) manufacturer that claims to better them.

Price wars.

What an enormously stupid venture to undertake when anyone with half a nose can unstop a vial of any of the artisans I have sampled of and inhale the real worth of what Oud is.

Some are stories, captured memories, songs, seductions, dances. All art.

I have been told it is madness to spend so much of my disposable income on Oud but if this be madness then sanity is for those without poetry in their gray dreary souls and it be damned.

I received my Dhul Q today and it is just fantastic. I love its unapologetic smokiness - pure campfire or mesquite. Very dark and deep. Then slowly the smokiness/wood recedes to give way to jammy sweetness, or very specifically, Amar al Deen - that Arabic fruit juice made out of dried apricot paste. The dry down took me back to my childhood when I lived in the GCC. Such a pleasant surprise.
I probably will have to order another bottle ;) I am not strong enough to resist it!
