Oud Yusuf, another refuge.

It just occurred to me that I haven't spoken on Oud Yusuf, which is my most frequent go-to when I decide to indulge. I only wish I could wear it more frequently!

The deserts of Arizona are the most lush and diverse deserts in the world. The reason is our monsoon season, which has started early this year. Last time it rained, we were into the triple digits, so at first we were getting a virga—that meteorological phenomenon where the rain evaporates before it hits the ground. There was the scent of rain and the glimmering bands of a double rainbow, seen through the red fire of an Arizona sunset.

That's how Oud Yusuf feels to me. It's a miracle, it illuminates, opens the third eye to allow one to see wonder. There is sugar and the bright scent of sage rubbed between the hands to release its aroma. There is a taste of cactus pears and night jasmine, and it relaxes into a sort of spice with a tang of citrus blossom. It awakens my muse, and the words fall through me, shining like the virga. There is a breath of rain on red soil. It feels like the spirit of sacred ground.

Peace, below me. Peace, above me. Peace, all around me—this is what it brings.

This has been a crummy week so far. But I have a small solution: little dot of oud on the joint of my thumb. I can sit and surreptitiously huff it, which is uplifting to my spirit. I just need to get through today. Oud Yusuf is the wings upon which I fly above the complete nonsense at my VA.

Another health issue has been overcome with Out Yusuf! And Ensar might have another customer, because I let my GI doc have a smell of it when he said 'What perfume is that? It's wonderful.' He had the same reaction to it that I do and I showed him the site!
