Positive “side-effects” oud...experience any?

In a world where we find ourselves detached from what i would consider “natural human habitat” oud connects us to our own roots, in a primal sense...and teaches us many things...if we listen...

awareness of self in the here & now is key.

Lets start with a simple one...reduced / eliminated use of harsh smellys...like going with “fragrance free” (make sure there is no “parfum” in ingredients).
This was done to sensitize the nose to start with...it awakens a sense that through most our lives was the most neglected...

Looking forward to hearing what “side-effects” of oud others have experienced...

Hello my friend, since using oud oil I’ve found my mind a lot sharper and a lot more in tune with others around me. I’ve also found my meditation and prayers more fruitful. Oud reminds me in a way what it is to be human and also to help me relate to others.

To quote the maestro:
"It's a scent, as if it were, from the window onto the next life."
Oud is great, it's divine and unparalleled. While I believe that all aromatics, from the gums to resins to spices, from animalics to flora, affect us in their own way, especially the likes of musk, sandal, vetiver, rose.

Agarwood is like stepping onto an ethereal swing between what is around us and what is within us. My life has been tumultuous growing up, but fortune brought me this gift and I must say that it's a treat for the mind. My first experience with oud was psychoactive, I felt lightheaded and my chest full of emotions, it was like a match thrown in a box of fireworks, a newfound sense of appreciation and gratitude.

While truly profound psychoactive experiences no longer occur as frequently, there are some whiffs which are transportative. The only thing that comes close is musk but nothing gets me like oud does, especially the heart of each profile.

I imagine laying exposed on an ancient forest floor, in conversation and contemplation with it's sages.

Love and best wishes.

It reduces my anxiety and depression mostly with Zaza Zen, it calms me down. I use it when I am alone and praying mostly. Apply it in my beard to get more into my nostrils. Now I am worried of these beautiful gems oxidation, how long it takes till they go bad
I wouldn’t worry about oxidation, even in those standard bottles bro.

As we use them they age with us...short of water or something nasty getting in there, don’t worry at all!
clean, dry hands when handling and close bottle properly. Don‘t over tighten the twist top.
The oxidization thing is more for the collectors...and some oils we choose to hold on to...
the oils we use as medicine, they are no different than other things we use...just that a tiny bit goes a long way!

With some things in life...it is true...”think twice, cut once” with oud...best to “think once, swipe twice.” @Ensar Oud copyright “think once, swipe twice”

Interesting read thanks for sharing as this is something I have been reflecting on recently. Since I started collecting oud and natural frangrances I have found that all your senses start to sharpen...increased sense of smell, hearing and even the way I visually the world around me..I found myself looking at a building the other day which I’ve ‘seen’ so many times before but this time I just stood back and thought MashAllah that is a nice work of architecture ... I think before I got into these amazing scents I must have been blind to many things which I see, feel or hear now. Im also often looking for new references when trying to compare new ouds it’s actually a good mental exercise with is a positive. My brother collects some really expensive EDP but I couldn’t go near them now as you start to pick up fake/synthetic scents...you find a new ability to pick out the fake from the real and this isn’t just perfumery we talking about. One thing one of our teachers mentioned not long ago in regards to being a man and learning the way of futuwwa is to smell like a real man by use of musk, ambergris, oud etc..and after a while you see that change in people once they join this path...they transition into ‘Men’...
