Purple Dervish

#1
Purple Dervish, just released at ensaroud.com. A Koh Kong and Pursat co-distillation from 2011.

Purple Dervish unites the best from both worlds, these worlds being Oud Yusuf and Crassna Cha. It is sweet (as Yusuf) but at the same time permeated by lemon-y and spicy, Thai-cuisine like notes (like Crassna Cha).
It changes back and forth, twisting your senses by leaning towards the sweet and fruity side, only to surprise you with a lemon-grassy, spicy twist in the next second. It has the same delicious Kyara note as the one in Crassna Cha, but at the same time it is as gentle as Yusuf.

IMHO, definitely worth buying. Those who fell for one or the other should give it a try.

I'm surprised there isn't more discussion of this oil.
It's so good, lots of resemblances to Oud Yusuf.
Purple Dervish is more fruity versus the more floral Yusuf.
I would also say PD has a stronger, and darker, wood note.
I think everyone that loves Yusuf really needs to give PD a try, as I think that it is just as good!

Hi KAKAO,

yes, right-- I also wonder why this Forum has fallen into a state of hibernation ;-) must be a seasonal thing, right? Or is everyone now on BN and other fora?

And: yes again-- Purple Dervish is a wonderful oud! I find myself using it sparingly, fearing it´s being spent before I can acquire a new bottle :(
Even our fellow oudist Adam has admitted that he likes it...

Sorry all as I have been quite busy of late. PD is an excellent oil and yes Thomas I find myself feeling that I need to hoard it! I have been trying to get a few things done finalcially and have taken a break for a bit on buying new oud but hope soon to be "exploring more".
I also get a strong wood/Kyara note from it and love this scent. It opens with it mixed with the floral and delves deeper as the day moves on. Delightful!

Yaqoub is more "unique and complex", but I think I prefer Purple Dervish.
I only have a sample size of Yaqoub, and I'm wearing some right now.
I kind of percieve Oud Yaqoub as Oud Yusuf after dark.
Deep musky florals, smoky woods and dark fruits, Yaqoub is beautiful for sure.
Both are stunning.

Would you say Yaqoub is like urjani by Taha. It smells like Yusuf but darker and more musky.

I want to buy Dervish but if it is very similar to Yusuf then I don't think I would want to buy. How similar would you say it is to Yusuf?

And how similar would you say Yaqoub is to Yusuf percentage wise.

Yusuf IMHO is much more floral and less "wood". Both are fantastic, just different.

yusuf is more sweet and floral , but purple more buttery and creamy =) it is just - purple =)
better go for Yaqoub , because they trees used are niiice =) but i am not sure is it worth it ? =)
yes it's worth it, especially if you're going for one bottle
Oud Yaqoub has a more sound and stronger character than Purple Darwish, as the latter one has diffrent and multiple notes play in many dimensions at the same time, while Oud Yaqoub evolves in a better manner, it starts dark and, then it settles to a sweet floral base
to me OUD Yaqoub is a winner
