Red,Black,Kashstiri,Musks etc

Neither do I. However, I have been really enjoying Borneo Zen today, and have noticed the deer musk has become more pronounced since I last wore this parfum. Really great.

Overtime I have tried and bought different musk's from Agarscent. I have tried their Kashmiri, Kathuri and animalic clear as well as Nepalese Kasthuri Ultimate. They were nice scents and the first two I think are musk in the Indian tradition; meaning that they are plant based mixed with other ingredients. Now whether there is real musk in them or not becomes mute because there is hardly any of it that is detectable by my nose at least. The Ultimate is the closest that comes to the real thing but it is not the same it is more of an approximation. the give away for me was it's over the top animalic tendency; in your face kinda of thing. most mistake real musk for being "skunky" or animalic stinky but in my humble experience I found that real musk is so delicate and fragile that it smells floral. There was actually a discussion thread and experiment on BN Profumo's page about Musk in which the participants (including me) put on musk and sought the reaction of people from both sexes without them knowing what we had on. most people thought the scent smelled floral after a while. As for Ensar's sandalwood with musk I think it is more about the Sandalwood which is beautiful than the musk. Musk is not really something that I would put on and go walking around or sitting down. It is intense and almost psychoactive. It's magic happens when mixed with others.

Masstika, I think you nailed it with your description of real musk being delicate and floral. That's exactly what I've been discovering in Borneo Zen--a delicate and refined musk note that develops into something that is akin to a floral note. Very different from the conventional perception of "musk".
