Dropped by Shoyeido main branch and picked up the following amazing wood chip packs. The scent profile is given in each insert that comes with the pack. In addition, the wood has a great fragrance at room temperature.
Bitter sweetness with a deep horizontal complexity. [emoji58] Easily my favorite among the 5 packs and the wood chip is very deeply resinous. Reminds me of Kyara.
Gentle sweetness.

Now the following 2 packs are very interesting. They are supposedly cuts from the same wood but have very different scent profile. This one has a very cooling and calming smell.
This has a very mature sweetness with a slight tinge of bitterness towards the end.
If you ever visited a Japan incense house, do remember to bring along your own incense burner! [emoji4] Firstly it is a great experience to test the woods on the spot using your own familiar burner as I generally do not like the electric burner used in the shop. Secondly it show that you are serious about the fragrance wood and it might just prompt the shop to bring out their good stuff! [emoji1]
