Less meds is unfortunately not an option for me with some of the stuff I have wrong. I've kind of eliminated everything that is safe for me to cut out. I am already on not just no wheat, but almost no grain. Red meat is a treat; I don't eat it very often. I work with a dietician who really knows her stuff, so she's been helping me do things like increase dietary fiber. If you cut out grains, the fiber has to come from somewhere. In my case, that's legumes: I tolerate them well and they are versatile. I am unfortunately not able to use cannabinoids or any other cannabis product. I am seen by the VA alone, and they would take away pain meds I rely upon when my pain gets past a certain level. I can attest to the fact that wheat isn't the einkorn and spelt that humans first were able to eat. What we have now is a toxic mess!
