SOTD

Oh and SOTD today was Ensar's Oud Dul Q. An excellent organic oud. It may be my favorite or a close second to Jing Shen Lu. I get a lot of incense with a dark fruit in the background. It's starts of like Aroha Kyaku, but stays strong on the incense whereas Aroha Kyaku turns green.
I Tried a sample of it too .. it's an "in your face" type of oil .. dark with big silage and longevity

In your face is a great way to describe it. This is a perfect choice if you don't want to have your hand glued to your nose.
Ok, you guys are killing me! This one sounds very tempting!

I have Hainan 2005 on today. I am not experienced with Chinese Ouds so this is my first go. It is a very very nice scent. It has a bit of sour fruit which I really like, tobacco, and some medicinal notes. This oil evolves beautifully on the skin.

Spend some time with this one, one of the very best Chinese offerings IMO, just outstanding. I truly get an amazing kinam note in that drydown.

Assam 3000 is the SOTD. This has been one of my favorites from the first time I tried it. Spicy bubble gum, fig, morphing into an airy floral scent, all with wood creeping into the background. Man, this is great stuff! What a treat to finish off the week.

I have a small sample of KR and it is really, really nice. Your description is right on!
Thank you sir. Think I will go with Hainan 2005 tonight based on your wearing yesterday! Love the sour fruits. I get an orange blossom/neroli type note as well. I have Yunnan 2003 and Yunnan Exclusive as well. Both awesome, but I like Hainan 05 the best. Do not have Royal Kinam or Chinese Exclusive, but I would love to try both, especially Royal Kinam.

Unfortunately I do not have any earlier offerings. I would love to try those as well. Still, the stuff I have now is so good, I am happy. The Assam 3000, about 4 hours after application is still going strong and is very elegant.

The Hainan is a classic IMO for sure. I will probably try it again tomorrow, but I have too many choices, LOL.
Ha! Good problem to have IMO :)

Actually went with Kyara de Kalbar and Borneo Diesel tonight. The former an amazing Brunei offering, very heady to start with some slightly minty fruitiness that evolves to a lovely kinam/kyara note. The later is a totally unique and equally heady new Borneo unlike anything I've sampled before.

No doubt you got the good stuff, my friend! Just got back from the gym and smelled my wrist where I put the Assam 3000. OMG, what a heavenly sweet wood scent! What a blessing it is to be able to experience these earth's treasures.

Today I started off with a blend of Imperial Oud's Antong Sar and Peam Kreng, which works very nicely indeed.

This evening it's EO Assam Organic 2007, which is always a delight.

Today I went with THE Kynam No1, had a wedding to go to and it was a lovely day, a perfect pairing.

I just got home and kesiro, your nice day with Assam 3000 yesterday had it on my mind, so I took a swipe a bit ago. You were spot on friend, nice stuff.

Oud Ahmad....

It's not just sinking-grade wood. It's not just copper kissing sinking-grade wood. It's not just Kelantan groundwater. It's not just the stray little muskdeer that tripped and fell inside the pot.... What it is is a completely different type of agarwood. Those who have smelled the profiles of red Cambodian kyara from the 70's would recognize it – or those fortunate enough to score a swipe of red live-tree Maroke from the 1990s.... NO Malaysian wood can ever smell like this, no matter how high-grade. Only Kelantan Kyara smells like this. Wait, make that sinking-grade Kelantan Kyara! – Where, oh, where is listensclosely so we can get into an argument about this? :)

OK, so it is an extremely uncharacteristic day here in Northern California. Brooding, overcast, rainy, sullen and depressing. I guess when it has been sunny every day for over 6 months, it is a big change.
How to lift the spirits a little? Why, it's Guallam Solide, of course! This magic concoction is uplifting and special. The scent profile is bristling with so many nuances once you really smell it deeply. The scent is so unique, it is really hard to describe. Sweet, sour, herbal, medicinal, woody. It's all in there. It is subtle yet strong at the same time. Needless to say, it make my day better.

Not listensclosely but I will be listening closely for this argument!

But Ensar. It really is an amazing oil. Really amazing. Unlike anything else I have. Whenever anyone has asked me about this one I tell them to imagine Sultani/Kannan Koh plus Kambodi 1976 with a pinch of deer musk. At least in scent profile to me.

Mmmm. Sinking-grade Kelantan Kyara. Love it.

Sultan Abdul Hamit. Wow, what a nice Borneo/New Guinea fusion. Highly resinated. Really does transport me seaside, a small fire with a steady breeze, and a constant stream of heavenly smoke from the agarwood slowly burning beneath. Really love this one!
