It is Oud Mustafa No. 5 today. This no nonsense oud is just so good. Earthy, sweet, spicy, woody. It just has it all. A pleasant whiff of the wrist to get the first day of the work week going.

I'm going to take a swipe of Oud Ahmad in honor of its official release today. I'm not sure there's much better out there, and it really is richly resinated and very medicinally red. And checkout the deer musk opening. Highly recommended.

Ooooh! Was not aware of that! So far not on the site but will have to keep a lookout.

Enjoyed Ahmad last night, went with a totally different spectrum today, Kynam Emerald. Green kinam bathing in crystalline seawater.

Well, it's 2 in a row. Oud Mostafa No.5 again today. If it ain't broke, don't fix it I say. I just love this stuff. A little funky at first which I have grown to love but then settles down and gets better and better with great lasting power. Makes any day better!

I enjoyed a full wearing of Ensar's Jing Shen Lu. What an amazing scent. It's dominated by a beautiful green scent with a slight woody undertone that's present from the begining. When I received this sample a few months back, I though that it was a sold out oil. I was blown away at first sniff. I've been enjoying it by smelling the dipstick only so as to preserve the oil. The day that Ensar announced it for sale, I used the sample right away (as well as purchased a bottle). Jing Shen Lu is very refined and mellow. It won't blow your socks off like Sultan Sufyan or other powerful ouds. Highly recommended if you're into clean, refined oils.

Well, that settles it, off to Ensar Oud I go. Jing Shen Lu, come to papa.

You won't be disappointed! I have to take one thing back though. This oil does blow me away. I just took another small swipe and the opening is amazing. It will definitely blow you away....in a very refined way.

@sg1011, you mention Sultan Sufyan and how it blows your socks off. In what ways is it a powerful oil, sillage, projection, depth?

I am really interested in the Jing Shen Lu. How is the sillage?
Hi Kesiro. I haven't applied any of the oil yet, just smelled it from within the bottle. But from the smell i can say that the silage is going to be on the medium to high side. People are going to start asking you, whats the name of the fragrance you have on :)

Thanks for the reply! I may have to get it, despite the conscious effort to RESIST buying another oil right now. I would appreciate your feedback once you wear it.

The SOTD is Taha's King Koh Kong. It is amazing how different all of Taha's oils are across the board compared. Airy, ethereal, layers of top notes, swirling and dancing as the basenotes remain mostly in the shadows taking it in. Beautiful oil. :)

Great way to describe Taha's stuff. And I do love the King!

I applied the Jing Shen in the morning before I left for work. It's been about 2 1/2 hours now and the dab of oil I put on before changed. I am smelling kyen and wow I really love it. The opening notes are somewhat mixed with the Green Papua oil of Ensar. It also has a mixture of a light agarwood which isn't too sharp. I am smelling a little fruity notes in there (not like Oud Yusuf) but in a green and organic way. I got to say the Kyen is standing out the most in this beautiful oil. I am gonna write some more details in the future when I spend more time with this oil.

Went with Purple Kinam today, for me opens with some amazing purple, citrus and rose. The kinam is definitely there and is awesome. Very uplifting and energetic oil for me.

I also can't stop taking small swipes of Oud Ahmad. It was always a bit of an enigma to me. It didn't fit neatly into a particular class for me. At first the "deer musk" was unmistakable. Then that deep medicinal redness, reminiscent of the very best Cambodi's. Then the massive sinking-grade resin kick, ala Sultani or Royale 1985 or Kannan Koh. But now I've been tasked to listen much more closely, to listen for those kinam notes.
