What grade oud?

#1
Hey guys, I'm new to this chat and agarwood I'm general. I was really hoping someone with more knowledge could help me on this oud I recently bought. It was from a company called treasure oud. The oud is Hindi from Bangladesh. The oud that is darker had a wood like inside that looks nothing like agarwood and simply burns like wood turning into a red amber after releasing its resin. Is this normal? Also what grades would this wood be considered. I payed $5 per gram for the wood with the lighter color and $3.5 for the darker wood. Did I get ripped off?

I've seen plenty of wood from Bangladesh, Majority coming from Sylhet , Hill Tract , and upper Bangladesh Jaflong areas also. Majority of the plantation wood is hammered with Steel nails and left for numerous years , one thing I do is try to slice the piece with a hole and you will see the redish brownish rust kinda of color around the infection , then you know that steel nails were used, it's still burnable , some people clean out redish part if there is any , if not than holes were drilled and left , & sometimes they wrap the tress with barb wire , you might see injection laden wood also but not that much , the nail laden trees scent profile I noticed is like sweet molasses type and slight spiciness & should be burned on a low heat, yes you are correct that wood tends burn out like Wooden amber red , but I have smelled Wild Bengal Aggarwood that has more animalic profiles that bubbles intensely and super spicy , there are trees in Sylhet that have natural infection over 150 years but are very rare & usually reserved by people in the GCC countries so almost impossible to get ( the people of Sylhet used to Worship the trees till Shajalal Al Yemeni came down and spread Islam , there are old trees from that time but are not touched around where Shajalal is buried ) , there are Wild Trees in the Chittagong Forest and protected by the military , they have shoot to kill policy. There is a Amusement park that's right beside the Chittagong National forest and there is a boat tour and you can see the Aggartrees on the mountain side , they look like giants , & there is lots of Wild Trees in Jaflong area , the people of that area worship the agar trees , there religion also based on Animism , Hence they protect it , you can find certain Villagers that take shaving from the tree for medicine and selling to certain people , they rarely sell the wood If they do it's for the villagers to help them out , & wild Trees are all over Bangladesh but people have no Idea that its Aggarwood.
Best thing is if you visit Bangladesh and there are many Attar stores that sell wood , the best store I can refer is Al Musk , located in Bashundhara City Mall , Level1 Block C shop # 3 , when you walk in the store it looks like a Jewelry & clothing store but go in the back you will see all the aggarwood in display and they have 15 types of wood , and you can test on the spot , plus there Oud Oils are great ranging from Sylhet and Burma and Cambodi , and they have higher Grade oils only for there Special Arab Customers ( Typical Bengali can't afford oud , 1 bottle is like 2 years of Income ) Hence Majority are Arab and Tablighs who travel to Bangladesh tend to get there Oils and wood , Al Musk has multiple stores in Bangladesh and Every time they open a new store Al Haramain Opens right beside them , lol , I advise to walk in Al Musk instead of Al Haramain ,
The Grade of Wood looks like Ok but its plantation wood so people would Say C but it depends on your taste , If you smelled Woods From E.O or Adam you will see the difference in profile range & would probably give a Bad grade , but I would say the Woods Ok , just burn it on super low heat if possible to capture the nuances ;)

Thank you very much. I was actually going to buy the organic trat wood from Adam at first but was hesitant about the shipping since he said the cheapest option was unsafe. Being a student in collage I didn't want to pay $45 for shipping so I went ahead and bought from this company. I sadly regret my purchase know, but I guess it is part of the learning and journey through agarwood. Thank you for your detailed reply. I would live to visit shah Jalal darbar one day. I wanted to ask you is the wood with the lighter color wild wood? The seller says it was. I burned it and it was full of resin and had a more delicate anamalic smell like a typical Hindi oud.

I personally use a electric Burner on a Mica Plate , If you only have charcoal try the Kodo way , Or what till that charcoal gets super gray and but a tiny sliver and the nuances should be more detectable , if you have a Control electric Burner low heat all the way bros , where are you located ? where are you originally from Aki ?

[emoji23][emoji23] very funny. It was actually usual for families to give part of the Dowry as agarwood in middle eastern cultures. Sadly time has changed and now all everyone wants is money. Imagine one whiff of the 400 year old tree.
The company was i think a smaller part of jalali agarwood called treasure oud which sells oils and wood as a retail business. They had a whole article on the plantation they get it from.

I emailed them Instead and got the price list and ordered through there. I have tried one of there oils as the brother sent me a free sample. It smells like a typical Hindi oud with a very leathery note but not much anamalic barnyard smell. Instead it gives a very soft hint of sweetness. Overall it is a typical Hindi oud but nothing out of the world. It is nic to have but for the price, i would go with something from Adam or Ensar

Incredible article on the company , wonder how all the oils smell ? So we have to message for purchasing the oil ? well when I go back home to visit wonder if they would allow people visit SubanaAllah , they Say when Shah Jalal al Yemeni took down the tyrannical king and brought peace he entered in the Kings Domicile and Entered a Special room there it was , Loads of Aggarwood with Tons Of Oils sitting in special Vases. If I can get some of that Oil from that time , 'oh yeah' , but He never stayed in the palace , the brother was humble , lived in a Cave and only drank Goat Milk & Doing miracles , When Ibn Batuta was in the North Frontier of Pakistan , the Pious Elders advised him you have to travel to this certain place & you meet a man in a cave who only drinks Goat milk and Spreads Islam and helps the poor and feeds them , this Man name is Shah Jalal Al Yemeni , So Ibn Batuta travel through high Hindu Kush and went through the crazy Mountains going down Nepal and into the Bengal Valley and into Sylhet , I don't know why he could not travel through Rajastan and down into west Bengal , way faster & easier, lol , , Or May be Allah wanted to show him the Mountains and beauty of that area seeing that way is inspirational , So he arrived and saw his frugal way of living and seeing how he help the poor and spreading the deen with his 360 of his Arab Companions , the 360 of his Arab Companions are buried and scattered all over Bangladesh , before his arrival , When a Muslim would kill a cow to feed the family and people , the King would wipe out there entire generation for killing a cow for sustenance , what Kind of King is that , Shah Jalal Sailed from Yemen and Allah guided the boat directly to Bangladesh spreading the deen commenced , Whenever I meet Yemenis and I bring up Shah Jalal they pull the Coffee and sweets and Hookah and treat you like a King and there Hospitality for guest is something like love in a family , A bless place Yemen is Cause Rasool PBH family is from there and Shah Jalal is from Yemen also , and Yemen and Pakistan are Connected cause there Ports are not to far apart , the Old School Arabian Sea , if the sea Could talk it would be a movie every day , Sorry Bhaia I am ranting away there , please forgive me if sounded Boring ,
