Which oil do you recommend based on these notes?

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and I look forward to learning from you about the many different facets of the world of Oud.
I am writing because I am on the hunt for some oils and I need your assistance as I am not sure what to pick out. As far as salient notes, I typically like a combination of the following:
  • Encens or resinous
  • Pine
  • Woody
  • Smokey
While I prefer to purchase from Ensar or Taha, I am willing to consider ASAQ. Do any oils come to mind when your read the above scent profile?
Thank you so much!

Hi there Phillip and welcome to Gaharu!
Based on your combination I would first recommend Ensar Oud's Archipelago. This Oud is starting to becoming one of my favorites. The second one would be the upcoming Ensar Oud's Dhul Q. They had it for presale last week and should be releasing on their website soon. Buy a few bottles if you can.

Hey OudforLife! Great name, and spelled correctly!
The advice above is very sage. Archipelago is the bargain of the century and just can't be missed. The Dhul Q I have not experienced but from the word on that, it is just what you are looking for.
Regrading the ASAQ, I can't tell you much, but from a discussion with one of the importers of it, the quality has gone down greatly and the oils have become laden with synthetics.

Welcome aboard,
Phil

Would agree on Archipelago, 100%. Value is awesome. Ensar's current Maroke Xiang Liao Ling fits as well. A bit less "universally" wearable. But it's to die for IMO.

Warm welcome to Gaharu, OudforLife!

You have come to the right place to know & discover REAL ouds. I can tell you about ASAQ.

I'd spent a LOT of money behind ASAQ/Ajmal/Junaid/Makkas. I have ASAQ's top most high-ends in my collection like King Abdullah Blend/Kings Blend Al Moulok/Prince Mishal Ben Abdul Aziz/Al Safa/Sheikh Saleh Al Saleh ... also Kalakassi 120 years old/Ruh-al-oud & many other things from others. I can tell you honestly _ they are all filled with synthetics nowadays. After I got myself entered to the Artisanal Oud world _ I don't even like to get a single whiff from them! 100% pure natural ouds give me bottomless aromatic pleasure. I get sick & irritated when I smell these synthetic poisons. I spent couple of thousands $$$$ & realize what blunder I've done. Total waste of money.

Forget ASAQ or others. Come to the natural world. Oud Dhul Q is gone now. According to your description your choice should be Xiang Liao Ling. Take it before it's gone. You won't EVER regret it. Just grab it & enjoy!

I truly appreciate the warm welcome, and the seemingly unanimous consent on Archipelago and Xiang Liao Ling. I am also really hoping that EO lists Oud Dhul Q and that they haven't run out. I got Thomas' email but was in the midst of traveling and missed the 3-day window.

Again, thank you so much for narrowing down my search. Great help.

This. Really. It's awesome. I'm a bit shocked by how much I like it. Will go for a bit tonight now that we're on the subject.
I only have a sample vial of Xiang Liao Ling. I use it very sparingly. I can't tell how much I've got addicted by this one. This is a MUST have & should NEVER be missed.
Deep deep resinous cloud around your psyche ... thick delicious junglyness ... heavier mysterious ancient woody depth than many ... smoothest one ... man I'd fallen in LOVE with it!

Don't be too shocked! ;)
Ask me, or Adam, or Ensar... and we'll all tell you that there's two types of agar that spin our minds the most. There's the obvious one (Special K), and after that its Merauke Filaria.
Well, there's Filarias, then there's Filarias done right.
To me, XXL and Sultan's Solace are IT!
disclaimer: I have not tried Oud Royale and, Maroke 2004
