a super close study of kyara ltd 2.0 last night with @Simla House
here is me putting streams of thoughts that came to me down on the keyboard.

started off being a tight nucleus. stefan called it torso of oud. the very core of it. a dense oil. really dense. not sticky but thick old engine oil dense. first 20 minutes or so is just this oudy oud note. this general category kinam mind buzzing numbing bitter note. things change drastically soon after. the universe opens up and galaxies get formed.

first phase 30-40 min after: a strong hainan character is the first act. take hainan 05's sauvage side and core, make it even better and you have this. also hainan skins and incense like that of wu shuang ge is felt with distinction.

second phase: purple kinam with a slightly subdued "purple" note flashes by a few times while the second act is preparing to come to the foreground. a rusted nail, dried blood, dry aged steak meaty note (odd but intriguing) comes and goes.

third phase an hour after: a cambodi red kinam dance. narcotic, red red red red red tobacco show. pursat 05. even kampot oil. but the heart of it. not the opening. the iron rust/blood show diminishes but still registers.

4th phase 1.5 mark: vietnam bitter sweet cool bitter again note like that of kinam rouge pokes its head out while cambodi note goes brighter, more open and with higher projection.

5th phase: a strong vietnam note takes hold and all other previous notes are now in the background or taken backstage. royal guallam and even touch nha trang ltd note is all that is there now.

few hours has gone by and this oil is not skipping a beat, not quieting down or going subdued. its confidently still singing from the top of its lungs and says i am a beast.

this oil is almost like a fusion of so many other oils. is the oud universe squeezed into one oil. there were a few solid analogies and examples we saw and shared last night but my memory is failing me. hopefully @Simla House will remember to share.

@Rasoul S! Far more eloquent and precise than I could ever put to print. Fantastic oil! I’m deeply into that Drydown and getting some of the beautiful Chinese component layered with the Vietnamese. Brilliant.

is a blessing and a curse. my mind fragments everything and takes the pieces and further splits them. seeing the whole can be tricky but spending time with fractions and nuances is plenty enjoyable :)

Yep, analogies were flowing last night, as were some fine incense sticks and an introduction to Russian Adam’s Feel Oud ouds. That mondo swipe of Kyara Ltd and resulting discussion of it’s metamorphosis and composition under Edison bulb light was a poetic way to begin the back to school season yesterday. Cheers for that! The opening: dense, deep, dark, heavy, full-on, and thick. The molten core of planet Oud. A torso of oud-matter that even a seasoned boxer would sprain his wrist kneading, And then, as promised, 45 min later comes the fanning out of the Ensar Legends Oud swatch from one oil. Like magic, Purple Kinam, Nha Trang, Hainan, Guallam, Vietnamese characteristics all make guest appearances. I think you also mentioned something about the marks one’s fingers make on crushed velvet, and how with every movement exposed a different pattern and design. I’m not great with analogies, you’ll have to elaborate. That being said, I’m in awe of this oil, and quite sure this my Holy Grail of Oud. Anyone know of a worthy opponent? Please tell me. I’ll refrain from making a comment on the Feel Oud oils until I can have another go at them, lest I misspeak.

Nha Trang LTD? Brunei Kinam? Royal Kinam v2? Yunnan Kinam? Hong Kong Kinam? Kynam No 1? But yes, yes, yes, this one may actually be my Holy Grail.

"45 min later comes the fanning out of the Ensar Legends Oud swatch from one oil." totally like a swatch. watching one unfold to many

Kyara LTD Private, which is a earlier distillation of Royal Kinam v2 I believe, super nice Chinese with some shared Vietnamese characteristics.

Thanks to a generous friend here, I had the very amazing opportunity to sample Oud Royale 1 and Oud Royale 2. I must say it doesn't get much better than these two. Oud as I always imagined what oud should be. Just deep, dark and mythical. Wow.

OR1, the King Maroke, just when I thought I couldn't like Maroke oils more..this happens! An old that redefines a whole genre of oud for me.

OR2, the Queen Philippine. A sweeter and softer version. Medicinal liquor with sweetened tobacco to soften the edges.

That being said, there are oils like Kannan Koh, the great King Malaysian, which are darn close. KK = OR1 done on a Malaysian base.

What a treat, thanks friend.

SOTN last night: battle of EO china sayang vs chinese exclusive last night:

one on each wrist.
similar age oils. 2004 vs 2005. overall china jungle sourced wood, vs. hainan island old stock.

A similar opening of booze, hospital operating room, Chinese dispensary in both. sayang is more citrusy, neroli and lime oil vs exclusive that is more feral, animal fur and older smelling. an antique quality like TWR and hainan 05.

development is quite complex on both. big changes. sayang has a floral musk note but also the rough edge quality around musk while exclusive is more civet to me. more pheromonal, more animal.

dry-down: just before the dry-down, flashes of kyara ltd 2.0 is sensed in Chinese exclusive. a narcotic, kinamic buzz. the texture is more creamy, forest honey and basically ore mature. sayang on the other hand, is brighter, a touch more citrusy and he bitter neroli vibe persists.

neither have any of that root veg, wet top soil, peanutty note.

for me, neither are the kind of oils to wear and hedonistically enjoy the scent. but both are awesome to have to study and meditate with. i have a slight preference for Chinese exclusive.

Nirvata muana tonight.
The smile on my face says it all. 100% satisfaction. This oil has a comforting quality I don’t recall seeing in any other oil outside the muana family.

Comforting. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy and cozy. Delicious and meditative. All worries and concerns instantly melted away this evening almost at the very first snif.

I wouldnt swap this oil out for any other and I equally hold it in highest regards as the best of sultans and ltds. Is just that dear to my heart.
