Dangers of fake wood and oil

True that we have been warned several times but still haven't heard of any incident of someone getting ill by oud, until it happened to me.
I was contacted by an oud seller on internet and he offered me kalakssi oud and wood with guaranty of originality, don't they always.
i ordered some samples and long story short, i burned the wood for few days, consequntly i started coughing and getting a bit sick with pain in lungs and throat. i found out later that i had an infection. can the wood be the reason for that?
i tried the wood again and i found out the it makes the coughing worse , offcourse i stayed on antibiotic for a while and got well, but it made me think that we are missing a key element here. to fade out the cheaters and the people who are trying to ruin this beloved hobby.
Ensar, taha, Adam and other trusted player need to stay vigilant and give atleast a attention warning. because it takes only 1 big neagtive incident in europe to get the Oud market regulated. which would have severe consequences for all us oud lover.

I am also very sorry to hear you are poorly, get well soon. :)

I know that correlation does not always mean causation, however.

I think the best course of action here is to get it chemically analysed or looked at by a trusted expert who can identify contamination with absolute certainty.

Then, if the results are positive for adulteration then I would appreciate you posting publically the identity of the seller. That would be a just action.

However I cannot emphasise enough the essential step of having a sample analysed first. It is quite possible you are allergic to a component of the sample that may be entirely natural or it may be accidentally introduced. It would be terribly wrong to accuse someone falsely.

How long ago was this? Did it happen recently? I agree with John on i hope who ever cheats people, truly thinks again before attempting to do so. What Mr Robert is saying is pure wisdom on having the component examined by an expert and see if you have a allergic reaction to such a thing. If it is then advertising would give a warning to all..

it happened about 2 months ago. Except cat hairs i am not allergic to anything i know , according to my doctor and my tests. and it wasnt an alergic reaction either becasue i was treated with antibiotic for an infection,. i was lucky that it didnt spread or damaged much more.
i heard that the wood could be dangerous if adultered but it was an eye opening experience. i will keep myself to the reputed sellers in the future.
i havent tested the wood or the oil(which i threw away)) but its from the personal experience that i would recommend being careful from the seller. he claims to sell "kalakksi" and "pure oud"
but i doubt its either.

Waqas,
I am very sorry to hear about this experience and hope you heal up and feel better. When we are violated in such ways when searching for pure products it hurts on all levels. I swear liars and cheaters are among the absolute worst of creatures and i hope they choose to repent!
true john, selling bad items is 1 thing but playing with the life of others with such actions could have dyre consquences.

Yeh, hope you feel better soon bro.

Just be careful of the suppliers you choose. A lot of people out there are out to make a quick buck and don't care about the consequences. I'm glad you threw away the oil and wood. Good Decision.

Booooo.....!!! :p
If you hadn't thrown it away, I'd ask you to post a pic here so we could look at it and see what the issue may have been.
Could have been a patch of termite mulch, glue, paint, Singer oil... or maybe it wasn't agarwood to begin with.

Glue, paint and mulch?

I had no idea that seven year olds were in the garahu fabrication business.

What's next?

Someone running a distillation of papier-mâché?
