Fecal / Barnyard

#1
Greetings all

This is my first post on this forum. I have been an 'oud user for over a while now and it is interesting to see how the fecal / barnyard oils are not getting as much prominence as in the early years. it is that type of fragrance that captivated my attention in the beginning. Am I a dying breed or are there others out there who appreciate this note?

@bigfoot786:
I think this is due to the fact that we have in the last year or so seen the releases of new "zero barnyard" ouds.
These "zero barnyard" ouds were fashioned to cater to the need (or rather: taste) of a clientele that prefers a more perfume-y oud with less barnyard character.
Also, the preference of a strong Hindi oud is an acquired taste.
I think we will see a new trend towards barnyard once the newbies have had enough of the sweet Cambodi and Thai oils ;-)

Thanks Thomas for the reply. Interesting take on the subject. I haven't heard the term "zero barnyard" before, but it certainly makes sense. The last Assam I purchased was all flowers and had little fecality, if any at all. It really opened up the spectrum for me of what an Assam 'oud could be.

Yes I actually have a bottle of the Assam Organic. It is definitely a barnyard oil. It has a raw note though, which can be unsettling for the those new to barnyard.
