Iris Noir seems to fly under the radar yet...which is completely incomprehensible for me. It is such a mellow, well-rounded and multidimensional perfume.

Well, all the better for me - I have bought three replacement bottles already, and will likely buy a forth and fifth.

Interestingly I was just reading the description again yesterday and wondering about how it smells. I've been curious about it the most among Ensar's perfume selections (though I am still greatly curious about all of them). You purchasing replacement bottles for later days says a lot about Iris Noir!

How does it make you 'feel'?

Hi m.arif, thank you for your reply.
Well, on one hand, you need to know that Iris Noir has musk as one of its ingredients. Ensar wrote that Iris Noir contains a musk infusion steeped by his sheikh in 2004. So we have vintage musk here, one very interesting part of a perfume;-) The musk is noticeable, but not very strong in the animalic sense. It is sweet and musky and greatly adds to the overall composition. I cannot tell exactly how many ingredients went into Iris Noir, but the overall scent is sweet and floral, very powdery, and with a powerful note of orris root. And with "powerful" I do not wish to say that it is strong, or the most noticeable note in the composition but that it is, together with the musk, the backdrop against which the other notes play.

Let me tell you an anecdote:I was going by cab the other night. My driver had one of these caps on his head that looked very similar to the one that Ensar wears in his photos.
So I started a conversation with him and it turns out he is a Sufi, too. Very soon we started speaking about scents, and Oud in particular. He said it's hard to find good scents.
Now, you need to know that I usually carry a sample vial or two with me, which I refill from time to time with my SOTD.
That day, I had a vial of Iris Noir with me, and another vial with Ensar's sandalwood oil.

We already had arrived at the place I had to go. The car was parked at the boardwalk and we still talked and I swiped him a drop of the sandal first.
He was kinda anxious, and said he only wanted natural oils - no artificial stuff etc.
Well, the sandal did exactly what I had anticipated: the guy smiled and admitted it was a fine quality.

Next I opened the vial of Iris Noir, and handed it to him. He sniffed the open vial, and you should have seen his eyes - all wide with surprise and glee!! I could tell he loved it.
I paid the fee and gifted him the Iris Noir. I guess he was very happy with it. Of course he wanted to know here I got the stuff from and I told him "EnsarOud".

Now back to your question: Iris Noir makes me feel regal, happy, relaxed and centered. And I love how the scent projects around me and I get these wafts every now and then.

When I first saw it I thought it might be a design to go with the Iris Noir on your site, there's a lot of dolphins in the Indian Ocean around Sri Lanka!

I see what you did there...unless it wasn't intentional...

Serendip was the Persian name for Sri Lanka.

Am I the only one who can't see the perfumes sections on the EO website, it seems to have disappeared from the tabs on the left. I have to type jungle kinam in the search box and then navigate to oud perfumes :S

Oh well, gives you the chance to stock up on more mukhallat because it's there. I need some Ambra...

my Iris Noir.jpg Iris Noir is on sale again! If you haven´t already bought a bottle, now is the time to do it.
If you liked Hajar Aswad, get one right now. If you like Monsieur Oud this one will put a smile on your face.
If you thought Jungle Kinam was a good perfume, you are in for a surprise.
Let me tell you this: I bought two bottles of this perfume when it was available first time. This was the first perfume that I got compliments for.
What you see in the image are the bottles I bought as replacements (the high recovery vial on the far left is half full only).

I received this last week, I'm very happy. :)

Like many of Ensar's creations Iris Noir comes off like a vintage perfume, something you might imagine Guerlain made decades ago. I'd call it a white floral chypre with iris being the centerpiece. It's creamy and buttery with musk playing a strong role. I also get aromatic spices like oregano, thyme, rosemary and pepper... also some citrus, rose and jasmine, moss, resins and agarwood of course. No aldehydes with Iris Noir being natural, but it has that uplifting feel anyways. It's very well blended and difficult to pick out notes so I'm probably wrong on a lot of it, but even so I doubt anyone will be disappointed with Iris Noir, it's amazing.

So, I got another bottle while it's on sale... I almost never do this and it may be the 3rd time or so I've ever bought more of anything.

Why? Because it's that good. :) It's a true 5-star fragrance, and very few exist in the world. From what I've tried less than .1% are in this league. Some of the things that make the difference:

    - It has balance from beginning to end, and is great all the way through.
    - It's not too loud and not too soft, it doesn't project in a way that's impossible to escape but instead has a silliage that makes it intriguing.
    - It's suitable for almost every occasion.
    - It has a human element to it, an enhancement of body odor but not so close that it's mistaken for someone who doesn't shower enough.
    - It doesn't lean too much toward the masculine or feminine.
    - It's never fatiguing, rather something that could be worn every day.

While there are a lot of excellent fragrances, Iris Noir is a standout and in the top few of anything I've ever tried.

Thank you, Dorje. One of the best reviews ever in this forum.
Only one addition: the musk dry-downi is superb.
Similar to that of EO No.2 and Sultan Musk attar but to my nose, even better than that of the aforementioned - softer, sweeter, even more powdery.
