Sotn:
First, tony bolton koh kong
Yes the Cambodi is noticeable. The koh Kong lineage is there. But at 20% clarity. The rest of the identity is hidden behind the to -to my nose and preference- less than ideal disTillation setup and maybe only mid quality raw material.

Disclaimer: tony is a wonderful person to deal with and I have nothing but praise for his service, generosity and kindness. His prices are also very good for wood. the oils too if you enjoy his style. For me, I take the wood and will respectfully leave the oil.

I am choosing my words carefully here and I don't mean any disrespect cause any and all distillers and artists work should be valued and respected. Tony's oils all have a sameness to them. A stainless steel scent ESP when it gets hot. His Thai has the fruit and charm, and hint of yusuf prettiness but then the cooked feel and mildly barn comes in. Same with above cambodi. The pretty citrusy floral top notes are not allowed to shine bright. The barn, the pot smell, ruins it for me. Sorry I really don't mean to be harsh. I am just picky. What can I say. About all things.

Now that I knew this won't do it and I am in the mood for an intellectual oil I went for:
tigerwood 95 by EO

I believe this is not an oil directly distilled by EO but his approval stamp on this oil makes Sense.

Tw95 was one of My first 3 non kambodi/ hindi non barn oil I ever smelled in my life (other two were yusuf and Zachariya).

When we first met, tigerwood95 and I, I was intrigued by the oil and saw it layers and complexity but I didn't care for it as far as wearing it and enjoying wearing it was concerned. Also the camphor notes were over the top for me and too distracting. Camphor was so strong all I could see was tigerbalm cream.

Now while that same note is there, on this evening, top soil, geosmin, ultra mild sinesis bitter notes, Italian plum, antique Bookstore and mahogany notes have joined the symphony.

No "one"note dominates and it allowed the wearer to see the many parts of this choir to focus on each individual...

These are the kind of oils I love the most. Balanced and layered and nuanced. Many facets going on. Don't get me wrong monotoneish but wicked at that oils serve a place and so do the loud projectile ones. But this group is something else. Green oil Kyara scent is heavenly. Is arguably finest scent on earth but is tiring to only smell that and that alone. My beloved kenmei from AA gets a bit tiring after I have had it on for few hours. The notes are the same. There are no surprises. Not yet and not to my nose at least. Fractional( no pun intnded) in quality. Terrific mental study and awesome solo or duet performance but no symphony orchestra.

Rambling and unfiltered out loud thinking over.

Peace to all

Golden sunshine, you say?
One of my favourite notes!
From which region is this from, wise @PEARL ?
Camasa is a Hindi oil of the non-fermented note/s variety while maintaining a richness of golden sunshine but I'm uncertain of the specific region, perhaps Enzo Ferrari can assist you with that info.

Jing Shen Lu this morning.
Today is the first time I’ve tried this oil in a much cooler climate. The notes have more space between them, and it’s complexity is crystalline. I feel like I've rediscovered this one for the third time. I’ll make sure to keep checking back on it as the temperature drops this winter.
Stunning.
JSL is surely a stunning oil! A lot of resemblance found in some Vietnamese Oils, so close but yet so far away. A bang for the buck for this type of Oudh. Plus it lasts forever on your skin!

Tonight: Syed's Ascent. I think this oil is not so much of a scent but a psychoactive experience. This oil is light in the blackness and black in the light. Really requires some alone time to fully experience it and I do not think I have yet scratched the surface of its power. Man, what insane stuff.
