SOTD

Today i'm wearing Imperial Oud's sinhiraja this oil is crystal clean and has some of the most exotic notes i have smelt in Oud. Guava, kiwi, mangoes come to mind with the lovely grynops DNA Sri Lankan oils are interesting.

The first thing I put on this morning is Bushido from JK of RP. A deep and calmly powerful oud based Japanese incense oil. Very nice grounding oil, beautifully balanced.

And the OM5 is gone with the wind. I was truly sad last night when I saw the final bottle sold but yet so happy for the person who got the last bottle. The OM5 is truly a magnificent Oudh and it has a very special place near my heart.
I'm really looking forward to receiving a bottle, and happy I didn't miss out!
I'm gonna go with the remnants of my OM5 vial today.

This evening I put on the newly aquired China Sayang. Subhunallah and Oh my is the words that came out of my mouth. This Oudh is hands down one of the best Oudhs I have. The sweetness reminds of the great legend Royal Kinam. The citrus along with tobacco scent is there with such beauty. It's like you are wrapped up in beautiful layers of Kinam and snuggled in. Magical and unreal! Truly a scent beyond what words can describe!

Terrific choices guys! Tonight was dinner date night with the wife and I chose Sultan Ahmet. Regal, complex, a keliedescope of heavenly notes.
Does your wife like Oud? Thankfully mine does. She commented about a week ago while wearing Yusuf 'I think I get why people like Oud, things bother me less'. But Ahmet is pulling out the big guns so I'm curious if spouses even notice when that happens, that you wore a special oud that night.

Archipelago -

For whatever reason i'm not a huge fan of the pepper note in Jayapura oils, but I've asked several people at work if they like it and they -all- have responded favorably, which is rare to have such a universal opinion. The ladies especially were universally in favor of it. I am guessing the bitterness of the pepper lends it a certain masculine-ness, and shows boldness for being slightly bracing. So since t3h womenz like it, I will have to re-evaluate my view... Since my view is ruled by women obviously ;)

Not sure I would say my wife is a fan although she clearly does not care for the darker scents like AK or Dhul Q. Purple Kinam, archipelago, Ceylon no 1 are much better received.
My daughter on the other hand loves oud. Especially the non barn hindis like Yoshi, Assam 3000 and Taha's new ones.
Since you mentioned archipelago, my 15 year old son thinks it the best scent he ever smelled lol.

A hearty welcome @Habz786! :)

Man, I knew you were a Sufi but I had no idea your insight was that sharp! Even as you wrote that post, I was traveling around Sinharaja, discussing with the local distillers how to improve and modify prevailing practices so as to bring them up to speed with the rest of the oud producing world... making it Fragrant Again, brother! ;)
