@kesiro ahahaha. Oud dilemma. Hainan is one hell of an oil. But Sayang's opening is the best in the world. I can only sit and wonder what this humble man would have created in the past. It makes me speechless. The level of detail and depth this oil possesses. Now that I know a master like you also appreciates it brings me much joy :)

China Sayang today. Opens like the finest wood aroma possible with Ouds. Pristine. Crystal clear. The first sniff is like dropping in an ocean of ancient oud sea. Imagine ancient chinese wood resin which has turned to pulp. Like a chocolaty balm sprinkled with aged hindi leathery funk. Marvellous Opening. I am astonished to find this Agallocha element in Sinensis. What a divine fusion ! Now the green incensy balsam shows up with hints of bittersweet smoke which Oud lovers crave. Its not diabetic at all. Infact its rather tuqoise in olfactory colors and opaque in nature as compared to slightly fuzzy green menthol of Burmese Oils. Development is mesmerising throwing the natural shades of wild Oud spectrum. The oil has raw power even though its smooth as butter which I feel is Ensar trademark. The raw nuances of Oud have been preserved very well. No over the top fancy tweaks IMHO. Oil distillation is supreme with a pristine clarity. I am grabbing a bottle before I post this review. I am finally convinced that my beloved Hainan 2005 has been dethroned. There is artisanal oud and then there is Ensar oud. This suits my Oud taste exactly and its my new benchmark. Ensar Bhai may God shower you with more strength and love. Bravo.
Brilliant post as always. Thank you for that Br @Nikhil S. The China Sayang is one of the most beautiful China Ouds, a person can taste and have.

However there is another Chinese Oudh, which many including myself consider the King. It's called the Royal Kinam. Make it a point to try it once in your life. I use to have that Oudh way back in 2010-2011 until my brother fell in love and took it from me. It doesn't get any better in Chinese Oudh than the Royal Kinam IMO.
The beauties that come from Chinese wood takes medicinal to a whole different level. In my humble opinion, I can say Chinese Ouds are hmmm intoxicating. Simply mind blowing oils.

Wish I was that lucky sir. I am sure guys like me have missed the best oils. Too late to the party. If something distilled in 2005 is so good I can only dream about the private oils/old world legends masters like Ensar have sampled and own. And Oud devotees like you have had a chance to sample/own. Chinese oils for sure beat any other in my humble experience. What a beautiful gift from God this Oud :) Cheers

It's never too late to get into this beautiful addiction! Your insight of Oudh oils at such an early stage is very uplifting. I can't imagine what level you would have been on a few years ago.
Nevertheless, its such a beautiful experience to to hear your thoughts and inights on these wonderful gifts of the Almighty.
May you be cherished with many more experiences of Oudh in the near and far future Bhai Saab!

Maroke Asgon ~EO
3 swipes again for me today, at 3 different intervals.
MA starts out with the light dampness of shaded earth, and opens into a beautiful, clean and green oud; pulsing back and forth between a zesty herbal lemon note and green foliage. To me, meruake/maroke ouds are the ouds of Middle Earth. I would have loved to have read Tolkien's thoughts or descriptions of this variety of agarwood. The fragrance of maroke oud is mysterious, grounding, tranquilizing and healing. It satisfies a craving unlike any other oud. If XLL is the fragrance of Treebeard, perhaps Maroke Asgon is the one coveted by the dwarves; who might hide this treasure beneath their gold. Essential for maroke enthusiasts.

You guys have my mouth watering for some China Sayang, I guess I'll have to swipe it tonight.

Right now I have on a swipe of TW1995, that together with Malaysian chips I got from Adam Hakimi, has made me fall in love with Malaysian oils and chips all over again:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Lao Chen Xiang (AA) - super rich intense oud - a combination of natural animalic and wild floral woodsy notes - very impressive oil..

Yesterday - Nha Trang LTD - saw the Ensar put this up for sale online and it inspired me to partake - sublimely beautiful indeed - pure Vietnamese agarwood vapors..

Nha Trang LTD. Wow. It's hard to describe its beauty. Truly, I believe even if I were the most eloquent poet, clearly am not, I'd never do it justice.

Hope everyone is well and wonderfully fragrant!
Welcome back Bhanny, you were certainly missed.

My SOTD and SOTW is some geriatric Old Spice from decades ago. So old that the box has no barcode.... let that sink in. The fragrance had certainly mellowed over time, I had to apply a redonkulas amount to get decent sillage but the matured depth more than made up for it.

Mostly worn on various delawarian beaches, I did get a comment that I reminded them of their grandpop. Oh well, past caring at this time of my life.

EO Assam 3000. The first time I sniffed this I wondered why would Ensar bhai price such an oil so high. Anyway as always I kept my little sample bottle securely because I have learnt that every Oud deserves a third chance or lets just say every man deserves a third chance with one Oud. LOL. I would also like to point out even after months and months of storage it smells the same. So I applied this oil after I was done seeing all the patients. And only I know how it literally whipped my ass. It showed how inaccurate my first two studies of it were. I being a lover of Hindi Oud was left perplexed to see nuances of my beloved Hind like never before. I have tested many many a hindi oils from the most unknown distillers in the deepest corners of NE India. Thats my level of addiction of Hindi. Its a magical oil which displays multiple layers instead of the traditional 3 of hindi - funk, leather, spice/sweet. It has a 4th layer which is like a rainbow of all the better things about Hindi Ouds in totality. I have not been able to decipher it yet. I usually jot down my findings step by step in my Scent Journal for comparisons later on and compare with others' findings. For now I will describe the aroma as the sweetness of sapota/sapodila/naseberry/cheeku fruits carried by a soft breeze on a quiet moonlit night. The only other beauty which comes half close to this is the Lushai by brother Zak which I consider pinnacle of aged hind profile. Similarly you need to sit and listen to such oils. Devoid of any unnecessary sweet/custard notes which I don't appreciate now in Cambodis/Thai Trats. No spiritual zing of kinami incense which I adore btw yet EO added a fourth dimension to this oil without giving the soft leathery funk away. No wonder ASSam 3000 kicked me in the right place and touched me where it mattered. If I wasn't broke by this time It would be no.1 choice. Ensar Bhai you are a magician. This oil is priceless. I will wait another year to re-write my new findings. I think it ages. Oud is a certified ego muncher.
