EO Assam 3000. The first time I sniffed this I wondered why would Ensar bhai price such an oil so high. Anyway as always I kept my little sample bottle securely because I have learnt that every Oud deserves a third chance or lets just say every man deserves a third chance with one Oud. LOL. I would also like to point out even after months and months of storage it smells the same. So I applied this oil after I was done seeing all the patients. And only I know how it literally whipped my ass. It showed how inaccurate my first two studies of it were. I being a lover of Hindi Oud was left perplexed to see nuances of my beloved Hind like never before. I have tested many many a hindi oils from the most unknown distillers in the deepest corners of NE India. Thats my level of addiction of Hindi. Its a magical oil which displays multiple layers instead of the traditional 3 of hindi - funk, leather, spice/sweet. It has a 4th layer which is like a rainbow of all the better things about Hindi Ouds in totality. I have not been able to decipher it yet. I usually jot down my findings step by step in my Scent Journal for comparisons later on and compare with others' findings. For now I will describe the aroma as the sweetness of sapota/sapodila/naseberry/cheeku fruits carried by a soft breeze on a quiet moonlit night. The only other beauty which comes half close to this is the Lushai by brother Zak which I consider pinnacle of aged hind profile. Similarly you need to sit and listen to such oils. Devoid of any unnecessary sweet/custard notes which I don't appreciate now in Cambodis/Thai Trats. No spiritual zing of kinami incense which I adore btw yet EO added a fourth dimension to this oil without giving the soft leathery funk away. No wonder ASSam 3000 kicked me in the right place and touched me where it mattered. If I wasn't broke by this time It would be no.1 choice. Ensar Bhai you are a magician. This oil is priceless. I will wait another year to re-write my new findings. I think it ages. Oud is a certified ego muncher.
Briallant! Thank you for the beautiful write up Br Nikhil on this wonderful Oudh!

Monday morning office hours and smelling like a full barn Hindi oud would just scare too many patients away. So... I am cleaning it up a bit with Mahabali. A more tamed barn note but still super satisfying. Pungent red spices, dark cherries, pepper, tobacco, and a whole lot of 'clean barn' satisfaction.

Sotn Choco Borai FO. Dark bitter cocoa/coffee with slight funk incense opening reminding of Aged Bengal/Sylheti Ouds hallmark note ending with wild Indian chocolate leather with slight cambodi sweetness in the dying parts. Extremely soothing. Long lasting. Only the top is a bit coarse mineral with a slight terpenish hint. Otherwise perfectly fine oil. I cannot fathom the fact that this is not Hindi. It blows my mind away. Its Organic. I think it has probably taken the caramelic leather from a previous hindi wood distillation in the same deg. Its priced at 150/3ml (edit) Hindi Addicts grab it asap. It lasts like crazy. We were talking about affordability today and this is feel Oud's answer. This oil will massively benefit from aging. Honestly I could easily make this oil a daily driver. I think a nice bargain oil for new oud lovets who want to get familiar with the hindi dna without having to spend too much or those who were zonked by the fermented assam funk introductions lol.

EO's Oud Yusuf and FO's Rooh al Hind: Separate swipes on each wrist. Oud Yusuf is the way it is said in Arabic "is'm ba'a musamma'a" means name and attributes are one and the same: BEAUTY. The delicacy of its notes are just like exquisite notes "ala'ap" emanating from Santoor by Pandit Shiv Kumar. I feel like the trail of its notes might shatter if I sniffed it deep. And Rooh al Hind, quite interesting infusion. Sandaleen barnayard is really interesting. It's a little bit monotonous as it is almost linear.
This juxtaposition has added quite interesting notes in my memory.

Ensar Oud Archipelago,
Smoky boozy vanilla-soaked cedarwood peeled bark with sprinkles of pepper and nutmeg on top and a drop of birch tar at the bottom. Let it settle beautifuly, then squeeze some fresh mandarin and throw a handful of sizzling resin.

Inhale and enjoy...

Rouh al Aoud by ASQ. I smell no Oud here. But a nice sophisticated scent with spicy saffron and musk and a touch of AaaaaaOud ! The presentation is dope though. Ceramic bottle. I just my favorite Ouds came in such bottles. No amount of light or heat can pass through such bottles.
