Setting the notes aside, I wore Thai Encens 1a yesterday, and thought it made for a more thorough picture of 'point A to point B' having been able to heat/burn some of the source wood (several times) beforehand.
I was struck by how good a representation the oil is of the heated wood, particularly after the first couple of hours of wearing the oil.
Made me wish (and hope!) that more oud oils would be offered with a small sample of the source wood... or, at least that some of the source wood would be available to buy (either on its own, or to buyers of the oil).
It doesn't need to be large quantities of the wood, as a little bit goes a long way.
Even if the oil deviates from the profile of the heated wood, it'd offer a glimpse into the (known or unknown) factors during the distillation process which influence the outcome.
So, I guess this a request to any sellers/distillers who might see this.
I, for one, would appreciate it greatly
(and thanks, Ensar, for, offering source wood for Thai Ensens 1a/1b and Khao Yai)
