Tincturing Agarwood

Hey everyone,

Has anyone had any success tincturing Agarwood? I have tried some cultivated Vietnamese and Thai woods in Everclear, and am just not crazy about what I get months down the line. It usually smells a little "off" to me.

I wondered if it was just woods in general that don't smell great tinctured, but my Baieido Mysore Byakudan Chipped Sandalwood tinctures are in my opinion, incredible after a few months.

Anyone have any advice on Agarwood tinctures? Do certain regions work better than others?

Yeh… KZ done Kyara tincture a while ago…
Me to… I done some Assam wood tincture in denatured alcohol that I plan to use in perfume.
PS sorry for not posting guys, quite busy, Dubai, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand … then again… and again…
just started a big batch of sandalwood soaking in one of the Thai factories… tomorrow heading there again… then distillation… then probably again Dubai.. Malaysia… Indinesia… Vientam… hmmm, I love it ! =)

I actually have one of the KZ Kyara tinctures but haven't actually opened it up to sample yet!

How does your Assam tincture compare to the raw wood (or for that matter the oil if you you used any of the same wood to do a proper distillation)?

We havent done an oil from the same wood.
I find the tincture to be quite light yet very dark in colour.
It perfectly captured the scent of raw wood unheated. Silky smooth, dry, woody scent with a touch of sweet oudiness.
