I keep coming across Iran being mentioned as a place where agarwood grows, is there any evidence to support this and if so what species of tree is it?

That's a common mix-up. Some tend to read "Irian" as "Iranian", so they think the Irian Jaya (Papua) oils are from Iran! That's why I changed the name of the Irian Emerald to Oud Emerald. Kept getting emails from people asking about the Iranian oil....
