So gents, (ladies too), since we are on the topic of barn and developing an affinity towards it, I have a couple of oils for you to ponder.
PEARL-ito, I definitely mean you too. Just got a pair of oils from Adam with some game, and I mean that figuratively and literally.
First up is Borai Choco Extreme, AKA, 5 month. Yep, a 5 month soaking on this bad boy. Got barn? Dayum right! You want un-adulturated chocolaty no holds barred barn for bottom dollar? This is your baby. It starts off like rich chocolate milk, then a smooth, rich animalic funk emerges that is oh so right. Would I wear this for a fancy night on the town? Hell no. But when I crave so barny goodness, I am all over this baby.
Second is Royal Bengal. I think this is the first Bengal oil I ever tried so I was not sure what to expect other than more or less a Hindi type scent. Well, this is different, and by a lot. I can't even describe it well. Yes, no question there is a Hindi component here, at the base of the scent. Those barny notes that some of us, and PEARL, you my friend being at the top of my list, crave and revere. But there is also a very potent heart note of pungent, bitter lemon, sinensis sourness which creates a lot of complexity. This one is for experienced noses only, IMHO. This is one of those oils that is super exciting to smell right now but will probably be insanely good in 3-7 years as the oil ages.
Very, very interesting oud.
