SOTD: I received two samples in the mail yesterday from a gentlemen who was kind enough to share with me his Gold Ambergris maceration. On left hand I have swiped the Sandalwood oil that was used. On the right hand the Ambergris maceration. Oceanic and animalic with a fecal note. A little goes a long way with this stuff.

On the side, my jacket sleeves have many different Oud's in them, with some Turkish rose otto that is quite vibrant and jammy.

Koh Kong '76 (EO). I do not know why I was craving this oil this morning but who cares. This oil is just sooo deep. It does have that red koh kong profile but the fruitiness is more bitter than sweet. There is a medicinal quality on par with some Vietnamese oils. Dried spices in the background. Great stuff.

EO Adikuto X: Fruity, Woody and Smokey combination. Usual Thai oils are single dimensional with overripe and fermented fruity notes. Here the fruity character is so lovely that it makes you want to eat the oil a little bit. As soon you are done with the fruits, you have the smokey woody notes to greet you and you totally forget about the fruits. Projection and longevity of the oil is also very good. With a price tag of $165, its a fairly easy decision. Also have a bottle of KZ Cambodi Classic but Adikuto is the clear winner IMO.

EO Dhul Q: Remember the genie in the bottle which came out as a smoke when the bottle was opened. This oil is exactly that. If smokey Cambodian profile is your thing, you will love this oil as its 70% smoke and only 30% fruit which in my opinion is the perfect recipe. Just put a drop and its like I am swimming inside the bottle. Massive projection. Could be Riyadh's dry weather at play but the oil is a beast, no doubt about it. Would have bought at least 2 bottles if my pocket had allowed.

I totally agree with your comments. Both these oils are powerhouses for the money. The Dhul Q is more incensy to me and the Adikuto more oudy. Win, win. Did you ever get a chance to try the Aroha Kyaku? I bet you would absolutely love it as well.

A hearty welcome to these parts, Muaz.

I do believe we have a similar appreciation for the smoke of heaven type Ouds.

My SOTD is the last 1/4 drop of EO Assam Organic. Not heavenly smoke but celestial barn.

Very accurate and mirror my own experience minus the fact that I am not as big a fan of the smoke. But that part is subjective.

My own escape from oudh is usually in form of ambergris or hinoki wood. But not tonight. No escape needed.
ASO layth. Got the Thai character with fruit notes of yusuf and coolness and mint of jing shen lu, borneo airy woodsyness. After a while the balsam and touch camphor comes out to keep sweetness of fruit in check. Red dried floral notes poke out here and there. Super mild hainan/ chinese medicinal note with their bitterness are keeping this oil interesting and a step up from being considered just a fruity Oudh. Or maybe is that Vietnamese note ( similar but milder than sinesis). Is that crassna?Me likeee. Delicious oil with good projection and tenacity. Lasting quite long actually.

I can comfortably and strongly recommend this oil to those seeking a fruity oil but with more than just fruit. Zero barn. Zero tingling buzz. Zero dust.
