Today I decided to put on one of my most favorite Hindi oils in rememberence of @Oudamberlove and @PEARL. The Assam Kinam. My 2nd oil I bought from Oriscent back in 2008.
This oil hasn’t shown signs of slowing down in the least way. It still smells as if when I opened the crystal bottle for the first time and almost falling down at the beauty and depth of this magnificent oil.

I was only able to get a large sample of this too along with Kenmei and Wanmei. I wish I could buy full bottles of these.
After buying near about 70 full bottles of Artisanal ouds from different vendors I finally realized the old advice of senior ouddicts _ buy sample first before you go for a full bottle. I personally prefer .5g samples nowadays. Recently I bought .5g samples of KSKv2/Hansei/Wanmei/Sumba ... happy with these samples. Pretty much for testing many times before I take a strong decision to buy finally a full bottle. Besides ... I can enjoy those for a long time. So many ouds are releasing continuously & we can't buy full bottles of each & every one. I feel much comfortable with .5g vials & in this way I can save up more money & test much items. I also have to use from already existing full bottles otherwise they will remain unused which is pointless.

Well after buying even half of those why didn’t you stop and just buy samples instead? Rather then buying the full bottles? You learn as you go and the ultimate decision on buying is when he/she presses the buy button. There is no force upon anyone to buy a full bottle. That’s all upon the individual.

I dunno. For some reason I do feel a force for buying full bottles. :)

70 full bottles of Oud oils are mind boggling statistic. Sampling is the most prudent of ways in making a purchase decision.

The M5 is beyond reproach in its performance but I agree it’s too big. Also, who could you ever find to work on that (exquisite but) hideously complicated 10 cylinder mill?
Ensar Oud~Pursat 2005

The S85 fitted in the E60 was the last of the naturally aspirated ///m5's and the only V10. V10 is an internal combustion engine, gas and air in, compress, ignite, push a piston, turn a crank, simple. Something goes wrong, grab a socket.

Oud Yusuf (Ensar) - agree with the gentleman above - what a lovely oil! It is starting to develop some richness and smoothness of age - the notes melding a bit, making it even more nectar-like...

Berjiwa (Taha) - sampled this also for the first time in awhile - one of my favorite Borneo's - woody and sweet and sunlight, in such great proportion to each other..

That’s very good advice, Saint. It’d be ruinous to try to acquire every release, even only the releases from favorite vendors. Not to mention such a practice is more about vanity than about Oud. The problem arises with well-known, well-trusted vendors, in the cases where the particular product is clearly rare and precious and likely to soon be all bought up. In the case of Kiyosumi, the vendor is well-known and well-trusted and the product was clearly rare and precious. I had a sample and plenty of opportunity to make a purchase but I was tapped out (on my Oud budget/Oud allowance.). At the time I felt I couldn’t justify the high price. And I have some Kenmei, so my interest in acquiring Kiyosumi might have been more academic than really necessary. Still, I have that feeling you get when you know you have very few chances to ever again acquire anything similar.

I think for me the answer is that I have plenty of oud for everyday swiping. If not, organic seems to be getting better all the time. It’ll be available. I think my plan will be to collect rarer oils, even if they’re more costly and I have to have them in small quantities, such as the 0.5g you recommend. Considering the oils you named in your post, it looks like this is your thinking too.

Royal malinau
So beautiful are the top notes that the creamy oudy tropical wood dry down had never registered on me to the level it did today. Unlike some oils like lavanya or ayu or au luong that I don’t detect wood/oud in drydown, Royal malinau very much does and is glorious.

Dude! Don’t be a tease and give us some more info. Not familiar with this one.
At first swipe the New Guinea comes through like in S Abdüs Selam but with more of an incense vibe.
Right behind it is a semisweet, almost fruitiness, from the Sumatran element, but this is not a fruity oud, it is slightly dark, rich, and strong.
The volatile note makes me think of a perfume version of an oil field worker, or auto mechanic.
The Gyrinops is robust, but is balanced with the Sumatra. This phase continues for a while before giving way to a crema de fruta note.
