SOTD for me is Green Papua (Ensar) - man, my little vial is aging very nicely indeed - green-brown earth/plant notes transmuted into an aged liquor type scent profile.. I can see this one moving over time to that lovely liquor quality of something like Tigerwood 1995.. May need to get more, I only have like .2g of it..

Oudamberlove, I have noticed that these blue/green colored oils all have that distinct "cola" note to them - Ayu (AA), Darul Aman (AA), Sumatra Q-TiQ (FO), Blue Malayu (FO) - and all these oils turn typical tan/brown oud color over time (at least they do in my little .1ml v-vials).. I have warmed up to that cola note - at first it smelled too odd and almost like it wasn't a natural scent - but over time I have come to really enjoy it - Darul Aman (distilled from the same wood as Ayu) is one of my favorite oils from Taha - it has a denser, more syrupy/medicinal type quality to it, with a more muted "cola" top note than Ayu. Ayu is more of a lighter and headier experience.. Both very fine oils.. I wore Ayu the other day on my way home from work (car is one of my favorite places to apply and enjoy oud), and when I got home I added a bit of Darul Aman to it - really helped me smell the differences.. I prefer the Darul Aman, though I could see why some people would prefer Ayu..
That Darul Aman sounds real good.
My favorite part of Ayu is the drydown, but overall it strikes me as a perfume, a Malaysian Agarwood Chips perfume.

Today, I swiped TO 95 year wild tree...
difficult learning curve.

Then, revisited Sri Pada
I’ve taken a U-Turn with Walla Pattas
I’m Willie for Wild Wallas:)
They are packed with aroma, satisfy a Borneo/Island Jungle urge, and aging will probably be very favorable for them.

Ah, now, that's good to see Oudamberlove - it looked like we may lose you to the troublesome, ever-subversive "anti-Walla" faction of the ouddict society..

.......tap tap tap......
A previously unattempted duo on my part: Kinamatan and TWR.
The addictive, dusty electro-static “Kinamic” buzz of Kinamatan, and the lushness and royalty of TWR.
Two of my favourites, all available at the lift of a wrist.
A great double scoop served in a waffle cone, IMO.
They should be merged into a super-oil.

Went out today, so I took some Bliss along...
Sultan Mujeeb on the left, Aarai Ko Shway on the right.

Sultan Mujeeb has got a nice oudy karate chop >>>hiiiiiiiiyah!!! It’s amazing to think that the distillation was a whole month.
Psssssst.......just don’t ask Berkilau how long he was cooked.

Aarai Ko Shway still a real delight, but disappears after a while.

When I got back home, L’essentiel Cambodgien on the left, Tigerwood 1995 on the right.

Not much poop today, I’ll make poop my theme tomorrow :)

Kyara ltd2.0
Soul stirring. Butterflies felt in the belly. The mind becomes clear and instantly stays in present moment.

This evening this oil opens with more cambodi notes on the top and mid while the base is all medicinal dark red Vietnam. So goood. The Kyara note joins the party and takes center stage 30 minutes or so after application.

There are great oils and then there are outstanding oils. But then there are select few true legends. This is one of them. Period.

Started my day with Assam Organic Meghalaya, right underneath the barn, it’s a wonderful Hindi oil. But if I come across a wonderful oil without the barn, I wonder what it would be like with some barn, like when I swipe Aarai Ko Shway and Konbaung.

Next up.....AA Sokh Khmer
some tobacco, and is my mind playing tricks on me?, because I’m smelling a very tiny bit of Camelia and Au Luong.

Moving along.....Oud Zachariyya
I’m in conservation mode with this oil, gotta make it last many years.

Lastly......Kashmiri musk macerated in Ali sandalwood oil
It’s only four months aged, but at 40%musk/60% oil, it’s already strong.

Sultan Abdul Hamit (Ensar) - Choosing which Sultan Series oil is my favorite is an impossible task, as often when I wear one I think "this one, this is my favorite sultan!" And so it was this evening with Sultan Abdul Hamit - unreleased high-end Sultan series oil, co-distillation of New Guinea and Borneo wood, with a fair bit of the Oud Dhul Q/Aroha Kyaku smokiness to it. SAH is like the oud to end all ouds, the Dark Emperor of ouds - more primordial than the oldest old-school, more avante-garde than the newest new-school. Utterly exotic and magnificent, pulsating with magical oudy powers... A tempestuous, brooding oud - yet brimming with a barely restrained euphoria..

Happy Jummah / Friday everyone :)
Today a drop of Oud Royale #5.
Deep, incense and resin heavy liquor.
Sub woofer Maroke?
Focused and to the point, not a parade of auxiliary notes; but not huge silage. I’d say less dirty and petrol oriented, as promised. Tranquillizing, cool and calming. Slightly sweet brown earth with coffee grinds. Welcome addition to my Maroke family. Looking forward to this at +25 degrees.

Got home from work, after a hot shower I wanted to swipe some OM5. But seeing it is nearly half a bottle left, I decided to conserve and swipe something else.

So I reached for KZ Cambodia Classic....it was okay, fully settled and delivers the same progression each and every time.

Then some Khulood.

I needed something more satisfying for my present mood, so I need a Hindi oil to the rescue:
AA Chamkeila:):)

Those Dark Emperor types are Divine!!!
Probably trickier to distill, requiring finess, but are ultra-satisfying to Oudheads like me:confused:
Yes indeed! Sultan Abdul Hamit is in the "burning incense" type genre - deep dark and smoky..

Earlier today it was Oud Sultani 1990 - this one and Oud Royale 1985 are among the oldest oils I have smelled, and there is a strong "mineral"/rock note that I think is simply not something that happens unless the oud has aged a long long time - love it!

Then tonight it's Maroke LTD (EO) - been a good while since I sampled some of this.. Distilled way back in 2004, this oil is coming up on 15 years old, and it is getting that "medicinal liqueur" type smell to it.. This is a very wild sort of oud - vibrant and fresh, more green than the browner/red smelling Maroke's like XLL.. Quite an olfactory journey..

My oud of the night :)

I also like keeping my woods in glass-stopper bottles. I’m jealous of your artistic handwriting though.

I also notice that you have only four turns of wire on your burner. Do you find it hard to control current? With the nine turns I put in my burner, I’d have to crank voltage to about 15 to get that glow, and my transformer overheats. I wonder what voltage you were running in that picture.

Sultan Abdüs Selam this morning.
Maybe next time I’ll layer it with some XLL so I can achieve a Jungle Trifecta:)

A while ago.....a layering of a tiny bit of Ward Al Ta’ifi with Assam Organic Meghalaya.
The nuance of AOMeg got lost. Probably too much Rose. I barely even let the tip of the applicator touch, but still, versus a swipe of oud, maybe a micron of Rose should be applied:confused:
