Last drop of Viet Zephyr by IO. Another oil I really enjoyed. Definitely more “wearable” and less “abstract” than the Chinese sinensis oil I've tried.
An oil I feel will have a bright future. Sinesis oil is not oud(has to be distilled to be called oud) but extract. A lovely sweet delicate cooling vanillic note.

Insane last 24 hours.

IO shah jahan last night. The marrow of Assam metamorphosed into gold and liquid sunshine. Damn fine oil that really speaks of the wood used to make it. I am a big fan.

This morning royal guallam. Narcotic most bitter scent. Green tinged. Cooling and did I say green? Nha Trang Ltd by contrast is all red and cooling note toned down and replaced with palladium or uranium or perhaps an orb from a different planet.

After lunch with espresso: sultan beyazit. Gotta be the most fruity, sour, spicy, sweet, psychedelic, mind bend sultan oil. Delicious. Dessert is served. And yes of course those green jungle vibe, sea spray notes are aplenty.

Thanks for the drive-by! Always have time to escape for espresso and Oud chat.
Beyazit Sahib is still singing loud and clear! What a dry-down!

Jk’s Rpp Timor sandal wood to start the day: a greener, zesty, frankincense like note married with the typical butter, lactic, soft and smooth core.

Oud mostafa 7 later. A beast from karbi anglong. The dna of chinese and Indian both present. A sauvage oil chuck full of mysterius layers. I love studying it. A unique salty/saline note marries the intense barn note. Vancouver oud guild sees some comparison with musa

Happy Jummah / Friday!
During today’s pho lunch; heavy on the pickled garlic….I suddenly found myself craving Oud Mostafa 7 out of the blue.
I don’t own OM7, nor can I remember much about it, but suddenly I found myself craving it.
At the conclusion of lunch, @Rasoul S happened to drive by with a vial of OM7. Oud-dacious serendipity!
OM7 is a fantastic puzzle, as promised. Multifaceted, dynamic, traditional and classy. Absolutely loved it.
An olfactory satellite image of all regions involved in this co-distillation.
This has been on the acquisitions list all year, but now I’m pushing it closer to the front of the line for 2019.

3 lifetime of good deeds to come in the presence of agarwood, 7 lifetimes for kinam, 10 lifetimes to have power of telepathy to get the oud you want come to you!!! I still can’t beleive it. I NEVER shave OM7 on me. Today was the first time. And I also always call you before stopping by and today I didn’t. What are the chances!!!!! Universe works in mysterious ways

Jannah, a Papuan oil from Al shareef. Nice one. Origin shows. Less intense green more brown spices and touch of leather. More open knit but not lacking density. I still prefer Green Papua (personally I really enjoy GREEN oils) but jannah is right there too when I want a less green and more spicy profile (nutmeg, cardamom...)

Can’t go wrong with those! I’m getting to where Musk is just as good as Oud in my book!
I have yet to develop that soft cozy warm spot for musk in my heart. I have that spot for very white old ambergris, sandal and orris butter. But that’s about it. Oud reigns supreme.

If you gents love musk the ultimate oud that to my nose is more musk than musk itself is: Ensar Oud Kannan Koh or Oud Ahmad. For a more affordable oil: tigerwood royale and hainan 05. But I encourage you to find a way to secure a small bit of Ahmad. You will be floored.
