Bhutan Red: Close to Hindi style. I smell a nice barn possibly from soaking/fermentation. Slight leather. Black tea. Bitter-sweet. Medium to full bodied.

Naga 3000: Bitter-sweet and floral. Some intrinsic clean barn. Strong tea note. Miiiiiiiild mint. Sweeter than Bhutan Red. Medium bodied.

Both project very strongly and long lasting.
Love them both!
Great acquisitions.

dont forget IO and alhashimi but more importantly, try as much wood as you can. it helps soooo much in understanding the oils. where intrinsic notes rest vs ones coaxed from distillation...
Of course! I’m on a sampling binge this year. Trying to make few and calculated buys. I agree that wood is constantly expanding my horizons. I also ordered a bunch of different black teas from tea box so I can broaden my palette. Down that rabbit hole I go.

Sampling wide and far too to bottom really helped me gain a perspective and a whole other level of appreciation. Of course expensive to do so but I looked at it like education. Forever a student

Philipina 1 for nightcap

What a beautiful pristine crystaline and pure oil. A joy to senses. Marjoram and tarragon steeped honey. Great cooling accord but not mint is that marjoram/oregano lavender “garigue” nose. You know how lavender essential oil has a cooling sensation, but no mint or camphor. Wonderful sweeetness balanced by a spine

Who is trying the new agar aura oil? I have nashila already and eyeing at least a sample of the entry level Malay and Thai/Malay sandwich.

I received 3 samples with my recent AA order of Royal Lao and Kencana V3. I took an immediate liking to the sample of Mardelong the "Thai/ Malay sandwich." There was a free shipping offer so I decided to purchase a 2.5g bottle. To my nose it's sort of a boozy oud with hints of tobacco, vetiver, vanilla and cola. I'm looking forward to a swipe of a sample of Nashila to experience/ evaluate that one. What is your experience/ view on Nashila Rasoul?

@Martin please tell us more about the Mardelong. Is Malay dominant or Thai? Does it have a Trat drydown? I am very curious about this oil.

Tell us more. Is there any sign of trat or totally different profile? It all reads beautifully to me minus the sticky dried fruit part.
My only reference to trat is Yusuf, and I tried that once two years ago. Fruit is the minimal profile. I get a strong tea opening that transitions to a slight spice and herbal note. I don't think this is an atypical Thai oil.

Normally, quiet Sundays are spent with a deep study oil, but the morning went to Oud Mostafa 5, a buttery soft and smooth aroma to bask in the sun with.
This is taking me back to the warm, sweet hillside grass of Northern California. When you leave your car on the side of the road in the country and the afternoon breeze summons you to wander through the oak trees.
Relaxing and tranquilizing.

Scent of the day or should i say night! I swiped some Iris Noir late yesterday afternoon and noticed an immediate sweet and slightly spicy scent. Then i as i went about my busy evening, the scent got lost only to come back with a vengeance in the middle of the night! As i turned over in my sleep, my arm swung across my face and with it the delicious subtle sweetness returned to awaken me as i was walking among the honeysuckles of my dreams.
