The slightly funky/swampy indoor plant store/flower shop note is toned down and disappears quicker than when I first got this oil. Few minutes later and the beguiling exotic purple floral note takes over. Not violet not iris not like any other actual flower I have ever smelled. Closest to water lily/lotus family. Then a oceanic blue green algae note joins the party with subtle notes while the oudy woody accord keeps gaining momentum. It is only after 40-50 minutes that the oud/wood origin of the oil shows itself. Prior to that one thinks is a mostly flower/shrub/botanical blend. Unique oil to say the least and one that is awesome to at least have a small amount of for the library

Lovely oil. Tip toes only in muddy forest floor. Ample Papuan note, some of the same purple note in xll is at display here. That high pitched bitter spicy medicinal note in papuya the oil and the wood is also found here. A maroke it is but comes across as hybrid maroke/png gyrinops. A young oil but one that is already quite put together. The drydown is ethereal for a maroke and very graceful. Words I didn’t think would ever be used for a maroke oil.

Overall less black notes and more medium dark shades of green with that bitter spiced floral purple accord. Truly lovely stuff and very friendly maroke. Perhaps even more so than the already approachable and friendly maroke Asgon.

Enjoying a perfect Easter Sunday here in Florida. The best weather you can get here, upper 70's (24-26 C) no humidity, cloudless sky everything green and flowering. SOTD: EO's Purple Kinam with Ceram Sinking on the burner. Expressing gratefulness to our Creator for our bounteous blessings along with prayers for Sri Lanka.
Amazing. Amen

Zero zilch nada to pinoy or ceram but a whisper of bois iris and a dirtied up and exotic lotus/waterlily/lilac note. I am intimately familiar with iris and love it a lot, so I think I would pick up on it if I saw it. I think... :)
retired again last night while actively thinking and looking for what you pointed out and nope. my reply above stands. to my nose that is...

trio of oil samples from imperial oud.

nha Trang ultima, a 2011 distillation
it is a very nice, clean, true to general Vietnam character, pleasant and super wearable. but it ends there for me. the true old growth nha trang i know in wood form, this is not. a great minty bittersweet note. clean. squeaky clean yet devoid of the real oudy oud oomph. one can say Gen 4 like and like many of taha's upper mid tier oils. The aging of the oil has greatly helped it and those super young volatile cantaloupe and fruity openings notes are all but gone. Well done! other respected noses have loved this more than i have. i likely would have loved it even more if it wasnt for my exposure to the best of nha trang wood, incense and oil.

cambodi enigma a new few months old distillation
it is legit. not my thing but mad respect to churn out a vintage, old days Cambodia. it is not like the tutti fruiti pretty things coming out these days from plantation or young wood.

hainan ultima a 2016 distillation
take a seat everyone. you are in the presence of greatness here. hainan ultima is a knock out. it is indeed a legit oil. it is devoid of the oriscent signature to my nose (the comparison has been brought up by some respected noses) but i can totally see the similarity and comparison. well done. the first 2 hours have been a fun, intellectual and stimulating ride. 10 minutes after application, this oil has the very core of ensar’s hainan 05 (that pheromonal, musky, feral note that is very addictive, tenacious and clings to your sinuses) but in a much more nuanced way. personally, I even prefer this. i lvoe hainan 05 for studyign but is too bold for me to wear and basque in its glory. 20 minutes after application there is more than a suggestion of kinam rouge note here. that red laced, tobacco, mineral, bittersweet note. Achieving the heart of the sinesis note minus peanuts and baby corn note is no easy feet. Ditto the lack of bitter root veg, damp soil and that overt boozy note. oud lovers of all walks but sinesis or vietnam/old school cambodi/chinese lovers must take a look at this oil for themselves. highly recommended. shah jahan may still be slightly edging over this oil for me as the best IO oil to date, but thats just subjective to me. objectively speaking this oil is far superior.

I haven't got a chance to wear the earlier two versions of this or haven't tried EO White Kinam or EO Borneo 50K

But Borneo3000 is an Oud slowly becoming me one of my favorite oils. I love it so much now I haven't blended it with any Cologne or EDP ... just went all out in the Indian heat with 4-5 big swipes [emoji23][emoji23]

Spilled some Monsieur Oud earlier... a few drops splashed to the floor as I was mesmerized by the incredible color of the oil while tipping some toward the applicator... so one swipe became three and I've been basking in its fresh fougère-ness ever since! Slather this one on, rather than dap and you'll be in for quite an invigorating experience! Lovely in the spring air!

SOTD: Czar Ceylon, the perfect fresh, spring scent

News Flash: Get your Hindi's out people!

They're blossoming in the spring weather, Assam Organic 2007 is giving off sweet notes like I've never seen, Oud Musa is acting tame, and Oud Hud is giving off macchiato toffee! -What a refreshing perusal!
I was sniffing this and that of my Hindi oils and the one which struck me the most was EO Assam Wilde. Was smelling the best it ever had. So much so that I brought it as an accompaniment with Aroke Roshi for the west coast boys to revisit. SO GOOD!
