@kesiro@5MeO. Your concerns are appreciated. In what appears to be alarmingly frequent breaks of sanity, I often suddenly come to on these Oud benders. You can only imagine the horrors of wondering what I just swiped. Plastic toothpicks strewn about, fragrant swipes of oil head to toe. I do believe there is little hope. Tell my story.

@bhanny, I tend to O D also. A day-off is in order, but easier said than done.
My current problem is that I'm using TW Royale too much, at this rate I'd have to get anothet bottle, hope I can save enough $$ before it sells-out.

I was going to do a head to head Tigerwood 1995 vs Tigerwood Royale battle but decided that on surgery days it is not practical.
Dusted of the Aroha Kyaku and SOTD it is. It is beautiful in its power and brashness. On some days that is perfect. The best oil for the money IMO.

Well gentlemen, if we start accusing each other of being a bigger ouddict than ourselves - or turn this into a witch-hunt to find out who the biggest ouddict of all is - then we are headed for trouble. I think we can all agree on that.. Moderators will shut down the thread, and many of us may get banned.. No need for that sort of thing here.. I mean, obviously bhanny is severely ouddicted, as is Kesiro - and Joyoud is becoming a total mess - but we don't need to belabor those points, certainly not.. I won't even mention Oudamberlove or Gaianmind - those two can barely keep it together enough to post, with all the swiping they do..

Anyhow, SOTD for me is the venerable Royal Chen Xiang (AA) - love the way the green kinamic notes make way for these delightful golden (fruit? floral? honey? cosmic nectar?) essence type aromas - scent is super crystalline, clear, incredibly graceful and dignified.. This is a very restrained and balanced type aroma - occasionally dropping a euphoric splash of yumminess before composing itself in the somber green cathedral yet again..

I just love your post. Thanks for that! I almost chocked on my snack laughing, lol. And I needed a laugh bad after my morning so far. No doubt we have some "oud" issues, but we all help ourselves get through them. Ha!

I just hope my sample vial gets me through the rest of the day. Going to be close, I fear.

Lol, I'm glad to be of service :) Fortunately both of us specialize in helping ouddicted people, so amidst the tears and ruination there is always hope..

Enjoy that Aroha Kyaku - powerful and brash indeed! Very different vibe than the RCX I have on.. I remember the first day I used Aroha Kyaku I spilled it on myself - can't remember how, but lost about half the vial onto my arm and shirt sleeve while I was out at a whiskey bar.. I had been drinking... The smell was extraordinarily intense - and I did indeed get a woman's phone number that night, after she initiated conversation with me - was it the Aroha Kyaku that drew her to me? Or was it my bald head, relatively poor posture, and disparaging commentary about the mentally handicapped? She lived in New York and we never stayed in touch, so I'll never know..

They say laughter is the best medicine, and if it is, you sure have a PhD of dispensing it. Thanks my brother.

So I will take a double swipe of AK before going back into the trenches on your honor!

@5MeO lol that seems about right! EO-Borneo Zen today, I go back and forth between digging on this and then I overload my olfactive circuitry and don't touch it for like 6 months, very beautiful bright and zesty....but I'm more of a dark jungly incensey kind of guy! Superb blend tho...great job on this Ensar!

EO Kinam Rouge, just the tiniest swipe under my nose for my selfish enjoyment alone.

Also, i'm back! Thankingsgiving was tumultous to say the least, and had things aplenty to take care of. So glad to be back.

I will order my next set of samples from FO asap and try to review them as best I can during the festive season here.

Spot on 5MeO. Probably was the oud, but some gals have a thing for slouching bald guys who have issues with the mentally challenged.

Today I went with K1, Kynam No1. Now enjoying some kinam skins on the burner.

Welcome back Robert!

Today it is a Tigerwood cage match. T '95 vs. T Royale!

95' lunges in and scores a quick jab but Royale shifts ever so slightly and just manages to deflect the blow, avoiding serious damage! Royale counters! Crouches down under a surprised '95, snares the base and takes him down. Half Nelson! No wait, he's got him by the cap and going for the submission! He's got it!

Actually, the oils are both so good, it is not so one sided. The '95 had to be the greatest bargain I have ever seen. What an incredibly deep, classic oudy scent. The Royale takes all that and makes it richer. It is more heady, more intense and a bit more musky. It is just stunning and I cannot blame Oudamberlove for fearing running out. It is just that good.

Mokokchung Oud (AA) - A very understated Hindi oil apparently cooked from ~100 year old trees - I like the way it has barnyard elements but they do not overpower the lovely hay and honey notes.. Very smooth oil with a vibrant resinous quality that plays beautifully with earthy elements..

I bought a .15g sample of both this and ZBH from Taha quite some time back - both samples have oxidized into a thick goop in their sample vials, but have become outstanding in their richness and overall beauty.. I am noticing that oxidation and sample vial aging in general seems to play out better for these Indian oils than for some of the Borneo oils..

In this moment in space time it is EO-Encens D' Angkor! First oud I ever bought. Kind of a funky leather and dark berry scent. Potent and long lasting. Ensar why is this not up on the legends page? It was your beautiful poetic description of this oil that made me take the leap into the mysterious world of oud!

I limit my use of E D'Angkor, my bottle has about .8ml left.
I suspect that there's a Cambodian mother tree not too far down the lineage of the wood used by Ensar to craft this oil.

@Oudamberlove I thought about grabbing a bottle of Aku Akira as somebody described it as having an EDA vibe, with an added hashish-cannabis element which would have been highly interesting! Although I unfortunately live in a state where if I would have been pulled over whist wearing it the five-ohh would have torn my car apart demanding to know where I had hidden the hashish lol!

Yesterday I swiped Taha's unreleased Kehebatan that he sent me as a sample. Very good oil and a must try for all. Today I used two drops of "Prince Mishal Blend" from Abdul Samad Al Qurashi. This is my favorite blend on the planet thus far as it contains a Kalla Kassi dhen oud base. At $2100 per tola I would not recommend you buying it until you smell it in the store to see if its for you.

Tomorrow I am back on the Kehebatan train and will try to deliver a smell profile for you all.

Yesterday went PK, Purple Kinam (EO) and Tan Xiang No1 (AA). 5MeO wrote about brilliant PK and some of its brethren, in particular their unbelievable openings, check out the reviews thread if you haven't read it. I definitely can't do any better, but these topnotes are just unreal. Truly like you just landed on a foreign planet, stepped out and are hit by wafts of the most heady and amazing alien flora. The drydown mellows into a luxurious blanket of Malaysian ouddiness.

AA Tan Xiang No1 is a really nice sandalwood with an exquisite drydown. Lasts forever too!
